One of the problems with PF that could be fixed is that it isn't cross server. You have a much smaller group of people to pull from when it is just your server. Blizzard made a party finder feature in WoW that is cross server in the newest expansion. I think they actually got the party finder idea from FFXIV but improved on it made it cross server. When making practice groups which fewer people need its very hard when confined to 1 server.

I don't see why SE couldn't do the same thing. It would be much cooler if I could play with anyone that plays FFXIV then just the small amount of of people on my server. You could post on the forums for help and then get help from anyone pretty much.

when I see pony farms for old content part of me is like "woo lets get a pony!" but then im immediately like " wait i haven't touched levi ex in 6 months.. if i die once they'll likely kick me and blacklist me to ensure we never pt again.. all because im a tad rusty

I have never, ever seen someone get kicked from a farm party for dying once. I've seen people get kicked for causing wipes or for dying multiple times to the same mechanic, but in general people tend to understand that we're all just human and mistakes happen.

The Odin farm I was in the other day had probably nine or ten deaths throughout the course of the evening (including me) for various reasons and no one even so much as commented on it. We were clearing it successfully every time, so why did it really matter if someone had a brief moment of failure?

Really? You've never seen this happen? Most of the PFs I see say this and I've seen some try to enforce rules like if you die you can't roll on a pony if it drops.

Sadly, I've met people that would actually say yes to your question.

I know. I have too. Some of them on my server. They played the "just kidding" card when I called them out on it. I can still hope that by phrasing it bluntly like above that some of those people might stop and go "Yes, that is a legit reason why an adult might not prioritize a video game."

WOW has always had a PF before the cross server integration, it was just terrible and was hard to get to.

Yeah. And of course where it's online and through text, no one has a way of knowing how true their sarcasm was or if it was a panicked attempt to back pedal. Knowing a few of the individuals that said it, it wouldn't surprise me if it was meant sincerely tbh. I've seen all levels of ignorance on my server and in DF; I think we all have.

Nope. What I usually see is "three strikes you're out" or "three wipes = disband and reform, " which are perfectly fair rules to have. Most people will write off a single death or wipe as a fluke.
