If there is one thing to note too, Kefka (being the most batshit out off FF villians probably) was not nearly as well recieved in Japan as he was outside it. I'm not sure if Dissidia changed that, but we probably won't be getting a major, recurring villian of his crazy again for some time.

That said, Yoshia says he likes Edda alot.

To be honest, there's something I have always hoped to see in FFXIV... And it's... either A super villain NOT MONSTER that you need to seriously raid, any of the eorzean races or something, that is not that easy to kill-exterminate like the others, and that is not a damn monster... Actually, a really badass enemy NPC...

The second thing I'd like to see is a badass rival, someone annoying, and also overpowered adventurer that you met in many times of the history and is always making more complicated the stuff for you, and you have to fight many many times...

PS: I loved Seymour in FFX, even if at the end I was screaming: "HIM?! AGAIN!?!... OH DAMN"

But, kind of missing someone like him here.

For some of us, fighting monsters all the time is not that... Entertaining, I like to find villains, NPCs worth it that doesn't necessarily have monster appeareance, if we characters are overpowered enough to defeat monsters, why there are not overpowered enough NPCs that can do so and compare their strenght to monsters or dragons?.

Bunch of conversation happened while I was away, to note on Nael, and the rest of the villains I listed that exist in this universe already: I took the information from Square-Enix's lodestone "Threats" page where they are listed directly. He was a bit of a religious nut (he was trying to wipe the 'pagan' worshipers out of existence (primals and the twelve) using the lesser moon/Bahamut all in the name of the one true power (Garlean Empire). He was also the one who I was referencing that was bat shit crazy, but is dead. Livia kinda fit that vein as being bat shit crazy (daughter and possible lover of Gaius) but like all the other higher ranking bad guys in the Empire save for Nael, Nero, and Gaius; they were all short lived, and I wish they would've done more with their characters.

Maybe what I might be looking for is a villain that evokes a strong emotion....a mix of fear, respect, and hatred. Crazy characters tend to evoke those emotions because their convictions are so strong. All we have so far in XIV (current villains not dead ones) for the most part are shadow puppet type villains; pulling strings and scheming, its all very cowardly. MSQ: Lahabrea, Elidibus, Lolorito, Tataru (because everyone thinks that smile was evil at the beach! i'm joking). I should also note, Nabriales was pretty crazy but he was around for one patch, and boom died promptly. He was only used for exposition as a way to demonstrate that the WoL could kill an Ascian, which was a shame because he had the early making of an Albedo-like character if they would've developed him more.

I bet the Edda storyline got more positive results than the garleans in 2.0 lol..
They killed so many of them off so early.
But honestly they better not be like oh we r just gonna revive them later in castrum hard mode or something lol.

Huh. I always got the impression that Livia had an unrequited infatuation with Gaius, though, I suppose it's still possible being if she's his adopted daughter.

As someone has stated earlier: crazy villains tend to be rather one-note. As in "Crazy IS their note". It is quite possible to be a crazy schemer.

It's pretty obvious that gaius x livia wasn't a thing. I always took it as gaius being so frustrated with her screw ups he had a private talk. She was taken in as an orphan as well so they might have been more personal. But judging by her demeanor you can tell she was desperate to succeed.

It would of been nice to get more history on the villains though, we just barely have anything on nael, and we probably know the most about Nero. Interested in learning more about Garlean characters in the future. specifically their personnel reasons for their loyalty to the empire and a bit about life in the empire for it's citizens. There must be some positives to their rule? It was revealed they preserve as much culture as they can with exception to deity worship so that's something.

I like it the best when they're slighly weaker, but wins anyway 'cause of a smart move or a well-devised tactic.

I'm not fond of schemers though! I kinda think we're missing a "loveable villain" in this game. Somewhat iconic and appealing, for whatever reason. Fighting faceless/masked entities is not as fun as having a identified ennemy who's going to give you hell.

    Buuut... that's a plot-wise decision that I respect!
(I do think we're not focusing enough on each villain. They're dying a bit fast.)
This x 1000. Kind of what I stated in a previous post.

Damn... Cool... And, thanks! I didn't know all that about the background of the most nightmare b***** of the game, t9....

With reason that battle is so overpowered and so damn many meteors... Now I like it even more... It's too sad actually that we who started at 2.0 don't have those awesome backgrounds here.

To be fair though, Kefka wasn't always insane either. It's just that we don't see his descent into madness on screen because It mostly happens before the game even starts.
