Both things that could have been done with the current system. Except with the new system, it changes claim rules for all mobs, not just a select few.The ability to help someone without being in a party. Instead of standing on the sidelines curing them, I can join in, help them defeat the monster and then be on my way. The possibility of Mega NMs, monsters that require a ton of people to take down in the field or other open field group activities.
How about something that can only be done with the new system?
How so? The only way I can attack something that someone else is attacking is being in the same party as them. With the new system, I don't have to be in a party nor do I have to talk to a NPC to be put into a special group to attack certain enemies.
Anyway there could be an underlying reason why they're changing the claiming system, the current system may not be able to do what they have planned for the future.

Call for help, and having those mega NMs attackable by all players. Both were done in XI, why not here.
I don't know, maybe because this game is different from XI. They can't put in a mailbox or delivery system because of server issues. Maybe it's the same thing here.

Also no one truly knows, what this new system will offer over the current one because the Devs haven't talked to us about it. They haven't said anything about it in forums, so obviously they're not ready to talk about it. I'm sure they will present their ideas around this system when they are ready to talk about it.

And btw, if you read the famitsu thread you would know that they are adding a mailbox and message system.
I know they're doing that, but you can't say you're against something or ask what is something going to do, when all the details haven't been revealed. Call for help had certain limitations, maybe they're don't want those same limitations in this game.
I have every right to disagree with the limited info we have on this subject.
I agree that maybe there is something big that we're missing, but I can not for the life of me think of what it may be. All possibilities that I can think of can be done with the current system. And within the current system, it's much easier to balance content and combat player griefing. That's my main concern.
