For story continuity's sake, I understand why they're gating them off to after 2.55 plot if the new jobs are located in Ishgard. I like continuity. I also understand that's why they're auto-starting them at level 30 - because if you've gone through to 2.55, you've already 50'd something(s) and done the grind - so it's to help get the new job to speed without banging your head on a wall grinding it to 50 again (my assumption). In theorized continuity - your character is already a professional and decorated adventurer and there (in Ishgard) because of the storyline. We're the warriors of light. You'd think we'd have some knack for battle by now (also, I hated grinding the jobs to 17 to get into Sastasha, so I'm glad for this >_> *pansyass*).

But for someone like me that wants to keep their current characters the way they are AND wants to make a new Au Ra that's a [insert new job] (for me, that's Dark Knight/machinist), that means going through the entire story all over..... again (.......and I've gone through it 4 times already. Yes, I know, I did it to myself and I shouldn't be bitching. |||OTL). That includes pre-making the character and then fantasia-ing later.

On the other hand - I have a feeling a good number of new players are going to run to the Au Ra for the badass look. o_O That and Miqo'te. Just because I feel they're unique races (vs the usual elvish, dwarfish, humanish races that most MMOs have). So that would be the easy street/not a good idea if a new player was able to just run into Ishgard, pick up DRK/AST/MCH and not be part of the regular timeline... No one was allowed into Ishgard prior to 2.55, so why would anyone be able to willy-nilly waltz in from the get-go?
Though... they could have just put the jobs in other places outside of Ishgard like they did the Rogue/Ninja guild/dojo. But I guess they're trying to make the jobs unique since Ishgard was so hermitted away from the rest of the world (IE, evolving with no outside influence, nor anyone leaving Ishgard to impart knowledge on the jobs...).
