Ok i will all caps for this so you can read it.
THIS IS NOT THE TRAILER, IT IS THE OPENING CINEMATIC FOR HEAVENSWARD.
THE TRAILER WAS POSTED MONTHS AGO.
Yoshida mentioned this in every interview since the trailer came out.

Common sense tells me that the Heavensward intro won't play at the title screen for a completely new player who buys the complete edition.
But today's trailer, and people's opinions in this thread, lend credence to the absurd motion that it might happen.
That would be immensely stupid.
I'm done with this discussion because it's completely pointless trying to talk sense into the OF, but I'd just like to point out for those that are saying that the context of the scene will make no sense to someone who hasn't played the game and won't ruin it for them at all, you meet Nanamo at like level 15. She dies in the preview. That's pretty much the climax of the entire story. The warning is there for a reason, but the scene didn't need to be there at all. People didn't need context, they just needed hype for Ishgard. It was unnecessary and stupid to put something in that completely cut off an entire portion of the game's audience from seeing it. There are other trailers, sure, but this is the full CGI one, the one that's supposed to grab people (thus the name "screen grab") which anybody new can now not see because they will get spoiled if they do. I'm amazed people are just fine with that, I guess because you're not in their shoes so it's fine whatever they do. Who cares though, they put a warning there, I hope Heavensward bombs in sales so SE finally gets a wake up call that copying WoW won't last them forever. Feel free to defend all their decisions to the death, it's really telling just how often this happens.
It could also very well be something that locks behind content. Remember how literally everything behind HW requires completing the main story? Changing the cutscene would actually be something rather dynamic to go with it.
1) Again, this is the opening for the expansion, a new player won't likely see it because the HW opening cinematic is not intended for them.I'm done with this discussion because it's completely pointless trying to talk sense into the OF, but I'd just like to point out for those that are saying that the context of the scene will make no sense to someone who hasn't played the game and won't ruin it for them at all, you meet Nanamo at like level 15. 2) The warning is there for current players who haven't finished the 2.55 content at this time but are still invested in the story, because they are the target audience.
3) Once again, it's an expansion cinema. These are meant to grab people who already played the first part, not new players. New players get the "End of an Era" cinema.
4) I can say with absolute 100% certainty that HW is not going to bomb, and I read nearly this exact sentence every time a popular MMO comes out with an expansion. It rarely happens.

Again, I will say this. New people won't even be able to access HW to begin with, it was already stated that players have to beat the 2.0 stories in order to even get into Ishgard. I highly doubt they would put an intro for an expansion into the 2.0 part of the story, it'll probably show right when they beat 2.55 or something like that. :ICommon sense tells me that the Heavensward intro won't play at the title screen for a completely new player who buys the complete edition.

Show them the older Heavensward Trailer without the spoilers?
The pre-title screen ones? Of course. If I had watched the openings for games like Nier or Tales of Symphonia or even Chrono Trigger before playing them, the entire experience would be ruined for me.
Also again a high five to SpookyGhost for being the one sane man here. To be honest, I should have expected the majority reaction to this thread since this is an MMO and MMO playerbases aren't exactly known for caring about story, spoilers or the developer's business strategy. These are the same people who populate a game where most people will actually tell you to skip cutscenes the first time in a dungeon after all.

Except for the fact you're choosing to ignore posts that actually give proper reasons as to why its like this. Then again, I like being insane if it means I'm not choosing to be ignorant and only looking for attention. I already gave my point, as did others, have fun with whatever it is you are trying to do.The pre-title screen ones? Of course.
