So back when there was no penalty, does that mean there was not a problem at all, and that people only had a problem with the developers? That's a very weak arguement if so. I aknowledge that both ways have their issues, and likewise - I want to see both parties taken care of in their own way.

Giving people the ability to leave after investing a certain amount of time in combat to me is far more reasonable than the current system. Where before you had veteran players taking advantage of newer players by leaving the moment the duty started, you now have the veteran players being taken advantage of by being held hostage by weaker players.

Neither way is good. And that point, it's pick your own poison.

But if they made it so you could freely withdraw after having put in time, I'd see no problem with it. It would allow people to freely leave if they've invested the effort to clear, and it would still prevent those who easily leave. When you're invested in something, the time goes by a -lot- faster.

Regardless of who you want to blame it doesn't even matter.

Bottom line is that if you don't kick people who want to leave they will afk or fake dc and that is not a punishable offense unless they're being excessively rude in chat. There is no way to prove somebody didn't legitimately need to go afk or that they didn't actually disconnect and it will never be punishable for that reason. Even if they threatened to do it in chat they could simply call it a bluff and then say that they actually had to go afk or disconnected, try and prove without a doubt that they didn't.

Nobody is forcing you to stop wasting your own/parties time so continue doing it if you want. I'm pretty sure the penalty was put into place to try and prevent people who join a DF group and then immediately leave when it's not the duty they wanted. Not to penalize people who gave it a good try before deciding they no longer wanted to waste their time.

Really though, the sooner you get rid of the person who doesn't want to be there, the sooner you can continue practicing. I don't know what else to say to try and get it through that you're only hurting yourself by trying to punish people regardless of the reasoning.

Makes no sense to me that people are too impatient to wait 5 minutes or less for a rep to join in progress but they're perfectly ok with waiting an additional 5+ minutes trying to punish somebody for wanting to leave.

That feel when you "disconnect", wait 10 minutes then log back online just to find out you're still in the same party

    BRB "disconnect" again

I don't know what language some people are reading or typing in but "Asking Nicely" doesn't guarantee the party will let you go. Most people won't troll or display a worse attitude until the party refuses to kick them by responding in a similar dick manner. Point being if everyone is acting like dicks nothing but time gets wasted.

There are tons of flaws in her Etiquette Guide. Especially the part where she MISPELLED ETIQUETTE!

I have ragequitted a few times but I would never ask for a kick. When I see the thing is not gonna happen, I apologize and leave and take my 30 minutes.
But I don't like people who start spamming duty abandon after one wipe..

I was in a WoD today where we wiped 5 times total and I was verbally abused for just making a general complaint about it. I didn't quit, but I really did want to and would have if it wasn't for the penalty.

I meet lots of these people who insist on trying to force everyone to try over and over and over again, oftentimes the same people being part of the problem causing wipes. I'm not one to quit often, but shaming the people who don't wish to carry a group is pretty crazy. Shaming people who simply complain after spending 10 minutes fighting a boss down to 5% only to wipe due to people ignoring mechanics is even crazier.

You'd think everyone would understand the feeling more...60 runs without a drop, constant wipes on almost every run....unless those people who don't understand it are part of the problem and want to shift attention away from that fact, as seems to be the case in my experience.

In short, it's like DoctorPepper said. If someone asks to be kicked, kick them. Be a good person and help yourself at the same time. They likely won't put in a full effort anyways. I know after wiping over and over on old, casual content mostly filled by players who have run it before, and after doing a billion runs only to be given the bird by drop rates, my enthusiasm and willingness to put up with people not trying and not understanding mechanics certainly declines.

I even have yet to live through being bound by Level 150 Doom. Every time people just stand there and get us all killed.

I NEVER Rage Quit before Patch 2.55, when CT3 got open to be looted...

The first time i rage quit, was because the MT (no firsttimer) starts spinning the first two bosses and turning the cerberus AWAY from the door. (the reasons why many player have died during that run)
Even after that, the MT still wanted to hold the aggro and a Tank-Fight aka Aggro pulling with the OTs started...
I asked my groupmates to kick me, they understand this and kicked me.

After that such things starts to happen more often, i gave up trying to tell them what to do, because nobody would listen.
I had over 42 runs before i got a new drop, every run ended with 2 or 3 wipes and constantly waiting to get replacement for ragequiter, also, if i wanted to be kicked, people still haven´t rolled on the loot and i had to ragequit, because they still haven´t done it after 5 mins.

CT3 has started to be pain to run it and i have still to do it to get, hopefully, my last equip piece from there.

The other day, we had a tank in Steps of Faith. We wiped on the first try but did pretty good. The tank proceeded to sit down and wait for his kick, by then we were in the middle of the fight.

That being said, you do NOT need 2 tanks for the trial. He went on being rude and obnoxious so we decided to just fail the 2nd try and wait out the trial time with him. Of course he dc-ed. Knowing he would be back, we waited and true enough, he was back within 5 minutes. He went off again and we proceeded to finish the trial without kicking him. He never came back but we finished nonetheless.

TL;DR - If they troll to be kicked, troll back. Too many people are getting their ways because people are impatient. See it as educating a very stupid child
