Reasons to not pvp.
- My hotbar is already full without extra pvp abilities.
- The combat is not made for pvp. Melee hit detection vs moving targets is a joke in this game. Server location is sub-optimal or just bad for the majority of the world.
- PvP is split between Grand Company's, meaning longer queue's for all and not being able to play with everyone of your choice.

Didn't they say in a previous letter that the GC restriction is here to stay?

Holding onto such a fail feature like the fate struggle. Need to let these gcs been left in the story and out of PvP gameplay. But if people need it to stay involved with the story fine. Lets take a totally different approach. Well say the warrior of light or whatever is partaking in training exercises with mercenaries. Or perhaps training with other adventures. Or maybe they joined up in the uldah arena which then held unique events out in thanalan. At the end of the day there are plenty of ways to work around the gc stuff.The only way I see them getting around that would be to give the option to make everyone temporary members of the party/raid leader's FC. Storywise it could be something like the leader brings in mercenaries to bolster the ranks, so if your party leader is a member of the Maelstrom, then non-Maelstrom people are counted as sellswords/mercenaries sided with the Maelstrom for that game.
Am I forgiven....

yeah, i wanted to queue with my friends assuming the party leader's company would be the one they'd represent in the match. unfortunately i found out quickly that because i was an adder and they were flames and maelstrom that we would never be able to play a pvp match together.
Please don't take offense to this, and anyone who enjoys the story I also apologise for my next remark.The only way I see them getting around that would be to give the option to make everyone temporary members of the party/raid leader's FC. Screw the lore
Sorry but if lore is ruining gameplay and destroying it with que times longer than DPS ques (when it doesn't need to be), and being unable to play with friends, then it needs to be changed. If they want to write something in that satisfies people then so be it, even if it is pretty far fetched.

Personally from the looks of it people stopped pvping because they couldn't cheat their way to by using what ever exploit they could find. If it wasn't tradeing wins in the wolves den, it was all mage pt sleep/ pet/ heal spams. From last i heard it was Black mage rolling meteor strikes. Imbalance is killing pvp in this game, imbalance and cheap idiots that want to use less skill and find the fastest way to get their glamour pvp gear.

I'm just trying to help make what you're asking for reality, because the first thing the writers are going to ask you is "why should random people be split into three groups when we tied GCs to PvP matches?". Especially since this game prides itself of being story-focused. Heroic dungeons needed story reasons to make you go there, so it's logical to expect the game to require some explanation as to why you'd fight under the flag of another GC for one match.Please don't take offense to this, and anyone who enjoys the story I also apologise for my next remark.

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
Oh please don't take that as a direct dig at you, even though I did quote you. The lore is something I've heard many people use to argue against the GC restriction removal and some have gone as far to say they wouldn't like any sort of change to that lore, even if it makes gameplay suffer. That's what frustrates me a little.I'm just trying to help make what you're asking for reality, because the first thing the writers are going to ask you is "why should random people be split into three groups when we tied GCs to PvP matches?". I've always been more of a PVPer in every MMO I have ever played, WoW was the first MMO to introduce me into PVE and FF was the first MMO that I played solely for PVE. So I would love it if PVP actually became a little bigger here in FF, as I've always had more fun in that.

I PvP all the time, at 268 games atm with 99wins.
We need GC removed asap, its very simple to understand. There could be 70 people quing for mael and flames, but if just 1 twin is q'ing no one can play lolwut
Don't get me wrong there are so many other things that need to be addressed (drones in slaughter) 3 way teams (2 v 1 wut) etc, but GC restriction is the highest priority right now
