Putting long cutscenes in the middle of dungeons that are meant to be repeated is moronic design, but I dont see how that excuses people from being selfish.

If a few people are driven off because they think other players should treat them as special because they are new then good riddence to them.

Anyway, I think this thread has reached its constructive end. If I could call for a thread lock right now, I would, but there's notable lack of a "report thread" button on this forum. So I'll just sit back and watch this thread burn for the most part now.

EDIT: I know about that "Report Post" button, but that's just for calling out a single post. I wonder if it could work for an entire thread lock though..

You already made it clear that you don't want people to queue for CM/Prae anymore in your wall of text.

However, I think you're overestimating the number of good samaritans out there who want to spend dozen of minutes inside a dungeon for a crappy Soldiery/Time ratio.

Every possible outcome from this situation is bad. The goal is to pick the lesser evil.
Kitano123's way to see it still allow new players to queue quite fast into these dungeons and get things done. Sure, not with the best possible experience, but they can still do it regardless, thanks to the "jerks" you want to kill so bad.
Your solution, on the other hand, while protecting the experiences of the new players, will drastically increase the queue time for these dungeons, to the point that they might have to queue only on peak hours during weekend to get in.

The fact that you want to end Kitano123's life because what you was reading "gave you cancer", doesn't mean that your solution is better.
In fact, your solution is just an utopia (and you probably know that, sorry).

No. It's time for this thread to be locked. Any time people start insulting each other over actual discussion, it's time for a thread lock. Which, I don't know if you've noticed, but that's exactly what's been happening in the past few pages. Seriously, everyone's just going back and forth in here, and we aren't getting anywhere. And even worse, this isn't the first thread to be discussing this issue, which goes to show just how awful this whole thing is.

I also don't recall saying I don't want veterans to sign up for Main Scenario either. Just that they should have more respect for those around them.

Yeah youre making up assumptions. You have no way to prove that a significant portion of the games population would drop MS DF completely if SE made timed cutscenes a requirement. Specially when you know that new player boost rewards. Furthermore, SE has the ability to boost rewards itself to compensate for the extra time (on average) that a player may take. SE can literally force every cutscene on everyone, every single time ... hell they can slow it down, double the amount of cutscenes and still make it the fastest way in game to aquire any reward they deem worthy. So for the 100th time, that argument is not only thin, but irrelevant.

I love how most of you are completely dismissing the fact DF is the feature where new players are not only pointed towards in the very quest objective, but have a much lower chance than a veteran at actually successfully forming a like minded group by other means. You have a server chock full of experienced players, primed, geared, and eager for speed runs, have a better chance at being in a good active FC, part of Linkshells, etc ... yet DF is the one place you want to go and piss on newbies cheerios. You are well versed, and can easily form your own efficient groups, that will likely stick around run after run farming whatever it is they need ... but no. Screw those guys, let them quit, "good riddance".... "WE'RE THE MAJORITY!"

... but tell me again how newbies trying to experience the game as designed are just the different side of the same "jerk" coin. Because it seems to me anyone that isnt all about "me, myself, and I" can cut a new player some slack given the circumstances.

lol, just out of curiosity, since being an "apathetic jerk" can sometimes be contagious. Is there a way to tell if im the newbie watching the cutscenes? So say if that "1 or more players" things comes up and I, as a vet, decided I dont want to carry cutscene viewers through bosses, I could do that? Why should I? The speed runners dont seem to mind. Hmm ... interesting.

Its quit simple and infact SE agress with me, if the majority of the group doesnt want to watch cut scenes then the single person who does is at fault. The group was gracious enough not to kick the OP for being a jerk which they are entirely within there rights to do.

I don't think playing a game you pay for, exactly the way it was set up to play, can be called selfish by any stretch of the imagination. And the fact is in this situation someone is going to be playing the game they pay for the way someone else dictates. It's not ok. SE just needs to nix the cut scenes and be done with it.

Nor is there anything inherently wrong with being selfish.
I don't care if other people I chance upon are selfish or not, if they try to inconvenience me because of it, that's when we have a problem..

Like a lot of people have already said, I don't really care if you want to sit back and watch the cut scenes, just don't expect me and 6 other people to sit back and suck our thumbs while we wait..
