I think the reason why Estinien recognized you is because the Eye resonates with you in the level 30 quest. Alberic may simply not know that he's alive, and the Azure could be keeping a lower profile. Could also just be laziness on SE's part.

I'm more concerned about Nanamo being alive/possibly a zombie in the CUL quests honestly. >.> It's gonna confuse the Hell out of anyone who hadn't finished leveling it before.
I'm not to 50, but saw the screenshot in the other thread. I kind of assumed this would easily be written off by having alternate dialogue, but considering there's an actual cutscene with Nanamo in that quest, apparently, I think it'd be considerably more difficult to rewrite the ENTIRE cutscene to match things post-2.55. Still doesn't make it less bizarre, but at least I could see why that might not be touched.
That one is tricky. It's not just that a cut scene includes her, the entire quest involves finding out her favourite foods from various sources and cooking a meal for her. Kind of funny that that quest does (I think) have alternate dialogue of Nanamo recognizing you as the WoL and what not. I assume she's not blown away that you're also a fantastic chef if, for instance, you get CUL to 50 before doing much else.I'm not to 50, but saw the screenshot in the other thread. As for the MSQ that takes you to the arcanist guild with Tataru, there migth be a few dialog options. I'm a very low level ACN (I forget, played it for like an hour or so) and teh guild master asked me to observe Tataru since i was beginning to gain an understanding of arcanima (or something close to that). I recall that the text seemed to indicate that I'd unlocked ACN, but certainly not 'mastered' it.
I think nanaimo is still alive. They never showed the body and no one other than the evil lala (dunno how to spell his name) and his people examined the body.
TBH I think the ending to 2.55 was a joke and we'll meet everyone again in 3.0.
I guess it makes sense if the entire theft of the Eye is kept between WoL, Estinien and Alberic. No one would have any reason to talk to Alberic about it. But he seems to think that the Holy See knows it is without an Azure Dragoon.
I started the game as an arcanist (it was also my first to 50, but I doubt that matters) and Thybyrgeim recognised me and asked me if I would be Tataru her instructor. It was a nice throwback to my own arcanist job quests (since Tataru is doing the very same "inspect the boxes" quest).I was happily surprised that Estinien's dialogue recognised our, err, past difficulties. Less impressed if he still puts out that dialogue to LNCs, though. o_O Thybyrgeim in Limsa also recognised me, but I've finished that entire questline as well. Any less leveled Arcanists who can share what they got?
They might get to it later on. I can imagine that there is enough to do when you have to get a patch out and prepare for an expansion and that they just left this as is for now. It might be changed later on (like how certain npc only got their text updated to show your progress in later patches), or it might not be. Time will tell.I'm not to 50, but saw the screenshot in the other thread. My guess is that they needed a figure to fit the DRG character?
What if Estinien isn't the DRG then? Who else would take up the mantle? And if that person comes up, you would also be puzzled because YOU are the Azure Dragoon now and no one else. So why is there another DRG coming out of nowhere AND mentioning the Eye?
I think Estinien is there to symbolize the DRG's involvement in defending Ishgard, as their duty is. It would be weird if they don't mention a DRG or conjure one up in the storyline.
They can't change it. The entire quest is about finding out her favorite foods to cook for her, so what if you start the quest, finish 2.55, then finally finish the level 50 CUL quest? "Sorry, but the Sultana died waiting for your food." I think they decided to use the "episode from last season" conceit rather than try to account for what is actually a much more complicated issue than a simple binary yes/no check. They might get to it later on. The XI fanbeings may rage about their immersion, but this is how it had to be done to keep the story from getting stale in a few more years. A lot of previously-closed possibilities open up this way.
