I think its because they recognize us as simply being "the warrior of light" regardless of our jobs.
I don't think Nanamo is dead either. Sure poison and all but the PLD Job Master says she's currently very ill (unless that was a lie from the syndicate to him). It'd just be weird to kill her off like that, especially with her CUL 50 appearance, housing portraits, triple triad card and minion. And I doubt any of the scions died. Then again.. that's the perfect finale of ARR...
at least that's what I think...
I remember doing this and fanboying when Estinien tells Alphinaud and Aymeric that you are his fellow Azure DRG and, you know, he doesn't want to kill you this time (thanks buddy! -.-)
I'm not sure I'm understanding you correctly butMy guess is that they needed a figure to fit the DRG character?
What if Estinien isn't the DRG then? Who else would take up the mantle? And if that person comes up, you would also be puzzled because YOU are the Azure Dragoon now and no one else. So why is there another DRG coming out of nowhere AND mentioning the Eye?
I think Estinien is there to symbolize the DRG's involvement in defending Ishgard, as their duty is. It would be weird if they don't mention a DRG or conjure one up in the storyline. So he isn't a character fabricated only to show that DRG are in Ishgard, considering a large portion of their military consists of dragoons.Estinien was one of the focal points of the DRG storyline and he didn't lose his title as Azure DRG but rather we are BOTH Azures now.

Jenlyns's has changed as mentioned earlier. The class guildmasters have changed as well. I don't see why someone such as alberic, who has close ties to the (current) Azure Dragoon, would not be current with him when others are.
It could be a thing similar to what happened with the Draenei in WOW, the developers were focusing on the coolness factor, and less on the actual lore. Then again, given the fact that Dragoons play such a important role in the Heavenward story, perhaps they just didn't think that far story-wise when revamping 2.0.

Must have been the only one. Although, if that one changed, Alberic's should have changed as well.

If you already started the quest, then it is impossible to change. If you have yet to start the quest it could be changed. Like you said it is much more complicated issue than a simple binary yes/no check. Which is why they might have left it for now to deal with later. OR they just leave it as is. Like I said, time will tell. I could see either happening, and I am fine with both. Yes it would be nice to see it changed, but I understand there will be complications so if it is never addressed that is fine with me too. They can't change it. The entire quest is about finding out her favorite foods to cook for her, so what if you start the quest, finish 2.55, then finally finish the level 50 CUL quest? "Sorry, but the Sultana died waiting for your food." I think they decided to use the "episode from last season" conceit rather than try to account for what is actually a much more complicated issue than a simple binary yes/no check.
My main point is Estinien is there to show that DRG are actually there as defenders of Ishgard. But why didn't they just make up another DRG, instead of making Estinien appear, thus puzzling us to how is this even possible?I remember doing this and fanboying when Estinien tells Alphinaud and Aymeric that you are his fellow Azure DRG and, you know, he doesn't want to kill you this time (thanks buddy! -.-)

Besides, didn't Estinien sort of a criminal? He DID stole the Eye... So now he just gave the Eye back and everybody forgives him? That's awfully nice of them.
