Steps of Faith impossible on Jap servers

Sorry to hear about your plight. It sounds more like racism more than anything. I play on a JP server and have thankfully not run into the extreme prejudice you experienced, but I've seen bad stuff come up here or there. I'd consider these options:

1. Aren't there any FC / LS / Friends that you can ask to help?

2. Consider a Server Transfer. It seems Tonberry Server is the top English-speaking Oceanic / SEA JP Server out there. They have a very high English-speaking population that coexists with the JP population there.

3. Even using a few basic JP phrases (and add them to a User Macro for reference) would ease things up.　You can do a search for some great JP Phrases Threads people made over the years (for FF XI and XIV here). But a few things like:

* At the start of each battle / dungeon you enter, use:

* Use the Auto-Translator instead of just typing in straight English. It's not perfect, but at least you get some communication in. Stuff like:

{Cure}{Please}

or if you need people to {Gather together.}

or {Help me out.}

My FC is basically 2 people that are on with any regularity, we have about 5 others who log in from time to time but arent very talkative - havent run into any other english people so far.
I tried to create a toon on tonberry when i started a few weeks ago but they werent allowing anymore people on it, Yojimbo was pretty much the only JP server with room left on it unfortunately.
I always have google translate on the other screen for when they talk because i like to know what theyre saying/vice versa and for the most part it works well - i know its broken grammar but it gets the point across. Unfortunately with everyone still learning the fight the talking gets a bit too fast paced for me to copy paste over all the time and i dont have much time to do the same mid battle. The main problem thats ticking me off here is that this is happening in an 'english' group. I wait an extra 30min for the same thing. =(

Actually even if you find a server to be "full," what many suggest is to attempt the server transfer during Off-Hours. Try during a Weekday maybe 3 - 5 a.m. (I know the time sucks, but that's when the fewest people are on). From what people report, it's one way to get into a high population server, even if it was "full," when you checked. Give it a shot.

Also, if there's ever a server maintenance, people also suggest attempting to create a character / transfer in the final 15 - 30 min before servers go down, because people generally start logging off.

Not all JP servers are the same (same as NA servers).

Yeah change for tomberry server is certainly a good option, i would say the same anyway don't speak, just take all the information on the strategy you need, do your stuff, if them don't know the strategy, japanese or english it's not your problem

These JP players from this JP server do NOT need to learn a foreign language to play FF because 90% of their server speaks JP.

The fact that EN is a worldwide language is irrelevant. if a server s community speaks mostly JP / DE / FR because its not a US/UK server i dont see why they should align with the "Worldwide language" just to please you, should they?

Instead of trying to impose your language to people who doesnt need it at all be smart and move to a US server. Its not like if you were finnish, US servers are not a rare pokemon. Then you could enjoy kicking people who dont use english as their mothertongue.

speaking 4 different languages is also not difficult.

If you read the OP's posts you'd have seen that they're forced to play on a JP server due to latency issues. If they played on a US server the ping would be so terrible that it wouldn't even really be worth playing.

Also, what the OP is asking for isn't an unreasonable request. There are language filters in the game for a reason, if the Japanese players are in queue for all languages then they should either be able to speak whatever language they've selected to some degree or not act like ass clowns if they come across somebody speaking a language they don't understand. And that goes for everyone...English, Japanese or European.

Anyway, I highly suggest you try to enter Tonberry. It would help you a lot. Just wake up earlier on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday morning. It is definitely worth the effort.

The character name "Light Yagami" is taken though. He is the leader of the Free Company "SeeD" on Tonberry so you would need a different name.

Provided you're playing on PC, Copy and Paste will be your best friend. You won't be able to say things on the fly, but you can take a moment to try and get a basic approach by.

If console, then auto-translate is your only hope as people mentioned before. But the alienation of other languages by other nations isn't anything new. It's nothing short of "They won't understand, why bother". Sadly, there is nothing we can do but show that we are trying to accomplish the same goal. Hopefully you managed to get things cleared by now. I often considered moving to JP servers to fit my time zone(I mean, I live in Okinawa myself...)
