It wasn't generalizing. Not everyone has the time, desire or ability to learn multiple languages.

That doesn't change the fact that people can all be decent to each other for a change.

You do realize that it takes years to become fluent in a single language, right? Regardless of "blatant limitations" or not.

    Got ya.

These JP players from this JP server do NOT need to learn a foreign language to play FF because 90% of their server speaks JP...

speaking 4 different languages is also not difficult.
    Ultear,

OK... overreact much? When did I ever state that JP players "need to learn a foreign language"? What?!

I'm responding to the OP's situation. If you read what he said, from his report he's stating that on his JP server, if he speaks English in this trial, he says he's not getting Cures (left to die), and no one listens to him.

I presented *solutions* to his problem (try another server, or using JP phrases and Auto-Translator).

OP also stated using auto translate. They ticked off the English language preference (I'm assuming with no others) but they're getting JPN players who refuse to play with them or support them even though the JPN players are the ones to choose the English pref too. Or even attempt using the auto translate function when OP does.

It should start with the OP not using a racial slur to refer to the Japanese.

"Jap" for "Japanese" is not really much different from "Euro" for "European". I am the latter and don't take offense at an abbreviated word.

Saying JP is perfectly fine, but saying Jap is so offensive? People should really not try so hard to get offended on the internet.

You are completely ignorant of history if you think jap is not a slur.

You don't have to be fluent, but you can have Google Translate open to get the gist of what is being said in Japanese. Also you can pick up reoccurring phrases and you should slowly be learning some characters. よろしくです ありがとう etc.

SarcasmMisser has the right of it. In the US at least, "Jap" is a semi-antiquated slang term and carries an even more unfortunate connotation because of historical context. It's generally considered to be an out-and-out slur.
