Please stop assuming things for me since you clearly aren't able. Just because I can kill stuff doesn't mean I want to, if I have the power to take down a Chimera I can resist her attacks, you bet I can resist some brass blades and get out of Ul'dah.

There were plenty of weapons everywhere, the Scions had theirs, the only reason I never held one is because I would've been too poweful for the story to make any sense, so they simply didn't give me one and called it a day. And obviously it ended up not making any sense anyway, but at least you can have your dramatic explosions and what not. It's nice to look at but it's dumb. You can enjoy it anyway, I did it, no need to defend SE at any cost lol.

Potentially. There's no doubting the fact that the Scions were completely outmaneuvered, physically and politically. There was no good answer for that situation, and the Warrior of Light is not the leader of the Scions. The Scions made moves to protect WoL because of his/her accomplishments and gifts.

But had they not escaped at that moment, it would have given them the ability to make political moves for their release. Most certainly the GC of the WoL would have made moves to protect them. There were many, sticky outcomes that could have came of that situation, the cards just fell the way they did because of Raubahn.

Stop assuming for a character you don't own. It's that simple. Yours is an avatar filling a role, not a character you own being controlled. If you don't like the story, you don't like the story. But don't presume that it's 'yours' by any stretch of the imagination. Rare is the instance a Final Fantasy game gives you full agency over your characters, rarer still is an FF-MMO that does so.

Then please read your post before blindly posting. Even though you didn't mean to, your posts imply that you would rather beat up the guards and escape.

Please elaborate on that point. How does not having a weapon not make sense?

1.0's Climactic Battle vs. 2.0's End

    Hi All,

Here's one thing I miss from the 1.0 Dev Team's work (and Story / Cinematics Team).

Look at the climactic battle (before the whole 2.0 / Dalamud / Bahamut ending was created) for 1.0's Main Story.

Look at HOW ACTIVE AND AWESOME the fighting and challenge was.

They can fight and kick so much butt, but suddenly, NONE of THEM can do anything against regular Uldahn Soldiers?! So awful.

Shame on you Yoshi P and the Cinematics Team. Seriously.

    Thanks.

I'm assuming he means the fact that we didn't have ours yet others did. Well it doesn't make sense lol. Tell me how did we get our weapon back after the carriage scene? There was no sign of us finding it or giving it so what happen to it?

    It's lore in an mmo , what did you expect ;_;

"guys we got this new expansion coming, and we mainly wanna cheese the crap out of it with dragons. How do we implement this with our previous lore?

"...umm, we could just kill them all?"

" k that's good enough. now let's get back to the dragons"

Sure the sensationalism and drama of the scenes was entertaining, but the obvious "what happens next?" motifs don't really make the positive feelings linger. Only Raubahn was interesting, he was human, flawed and admittedly SE did well here to have him as the age-old tragic hero, but what followed was just fluff, pure and simple. Then again, even if all it had was a bit of blood charged drama, it had more than what the previous lore of the game had. I'll say (/thumbsup) for improvement, but the lore in this game is still anything but interesting or exciting.

Looking at the cutscenes, you are seen with your weapon again once you exit the carriage. Most likely during the trip after the screen fades to black that Alphinaud or Pipin gave back your weapon.

My assumption that that part was that Alphnaud managed to acquire it on his escape route. Honestly, it's just a pointless plot hole people will use to give agency for their distaste of the story. They don't like feeling defeated.

You can easily assume that you left it with the Silver Blade guard before entering the Sultana's apparments. Or even with your servent, at the inn, since you came from Momodi's adventurer guild.

In fact, it makes way more sense that way. Can you imagin if we had our weapon during the meeting with the Sultana? Teledji would come to arrest you, and Ildbert in person would handle you. No doubt he would strip you from your weapon before throwing you in the middle of the diner room.
From that, good luck to get back your shiny relic when it's in the hands of Ildbert and the corrupted Crystal Braves.

    ---

Anyway, most people here are nitpicking. It's a f*cking trope.
    Trope.
    Trooooooope.
    ...

This is what almost every game/film/series is made of, come one people. If you can't accept it, then I don't know how you can live in this era.

Don't interject without context, thank you. It's that simple, or you'll look a fool.

Because the only reason I didn't was that it was convenient. If I did, fleeing Ul'Dah wouldn't have required such dramatics... so I didn't. There are much more threatning things in Eorzea than some Brass Blades and Crystal Braves and I've survived all of them. They just did a bad job covering it up.
