Petition: RMT tell blocking options for players

    tl;dr in the end.

I have seen many threads where people are complaining about the spam tells they receive from RMT, some even claiming that if this does NOT stop, they will even quit the game. Honestly, I haven't thought of quitting the game because of this because there's always the /busy option to filter out all the tells, but this isn't really a solution to this problem since it also prevents our actual in-game friends from contacting us or anyone else with an actual message to us.

I have also seen various ideas and can personally think of many ideas to deal with this problem, but no action has been seen from SE regarding this. Here I was hoping for the 2.55 patch to bring a change to this matter, but I guess that was also just a dream.

It makes me sad and concerned to think that some people who find these RMT spamming even more offensive than I do, actually want to quit the game because of it. This honestly can't go on like this. Does SE actually realize how severe this issue is? When ever there's an issue that makes players want to quit the game, alarms should go off in the game development office to stop that from happening at once, but they haven't done anything to this since the start of this game 2 years ago.

What bothers me the most is SE's initiative on dealing with these for the better of the players. Surely they are banning all the accounts that either sell or buy, but that's not enough and it's not the main problem the players are experiencing because of them.

    It is our GAMING PEACE!

These RMT's are invading just that with their spam tells that flood our chat logs with messages containing hearts and stars and what not icons and website addresses.

In all honesty, this has to stop!

Here's a few simple, but effective ideas how to deal with this problem and the side effects:

    1) Blocking tells from people that aren't on our friends list, our FC or any of our linkshells.

    2) Blocking tells/say/shout messages from people that are under level x so new lvl 1 to x characters that RMT use can't message us or
public chat before a certain level that WE get to choose from 1 to 50.

    3) Also blocking friend requests from RMT or from anyone else and letting only us befriend someone if we really want to do so.

    tl;dr:

Sign this petition by liking this post if you DO NOT want to get tell spammed with advertising messages from RMT and want a proper response from SE on whether they are planning to add tell blocking options or not and what are they actually planning to do with this problem.

We just want to enjoy a spam free MMO. This isn't supposed to be Final Spamtasy XIV.

On some servers it is worse than others. Time of day also seems to be a factor.
Though I'm not really understanding what you mean by "Invasion of Privacy". It's not like the spambot is gaining personal information.
In SE's defense, they are handing out bans by the thousands, and they are not afraid to tell us in those notices.
I don't really see you offering any other solutions.

If they would just add an invisible option this wouldn't be a problem and nobody could search for people to /tell. I talk to people in all zones and I would obviously know they were online if I'm standing in front of them, or in my LS or FC or in a Party Finder.

    Please, SE-npai, notice this. ; ;

<- The real reason Yoshi-P stressed watching all the cutscenes.

Matoya: And that should give you a notion of how sick and tired I was of those spineless wretches of the Forum. All talk and no trousers, that lot.

You can obtain player names from RAM as well, something an invisibility option wouldn't prevent. Though it would be a great anyway, even if it doesn't help against RMT bots, it does help with stalkers and such.

Oh okay, I got your point. I got lost in translation there, I'll rephrase that. What I was going for with that was imagine if you're at the comfort of your own home and some guy comes knocking on your door a hundred times a day. You walk to your door and notice it's a crappy salesman trying to sell you a Super Hoover 2000 Extreme. Every time you hear your door knock, it's possibly the same guy or another guy but with the same product.

I rephrased that to expression to be more like kind of breaking "domestic peace" but with gaming, so I came up with "gaming peace", instead. Couldn't figure out a better term for now. I hope you understood my point.

I added in 3 simple solutions that I've come across while reading the posts here on the forums, which would abolish this problem effectively.

It has been explained multiple times why this will not work. It is not a problem for RMT to level up their spambots to 50. Time isn't a concern when there is such a huge market for RMT gil. This will only make the game hostile to new players, SE is not going to do this.

I don't exactly agree with the "hostile to new players" argument against idea of filtering tells from non-friends, because the currently used alternative filters out everyone's tells.

Not only that, but the option is completely optional. If I'm willing to set myself on /busy because I don't wanna hear RMT tells, how am I any more harmful to a new player if I set my game to block tells from non-friends?

My comment was for level-filtering all public chat and /tell, blocking /tells from non-friends is an entirely different thing.

Is RMT worse on some servers or are you overreacting?

I'm on Phoenix(EU), and while I do get a lot of RMT tells, we are still only talking about 1 every 30 mins or so in my experience.

People spam FC recruitment messages in /shout that's way longer, and they are more frequent, so how is it so much worse getting a tell instead in your chat?

Annoying, yes... but not to the point which I've seen people on this forum complain.

I do think they could use some fix for it, to at least temporarily get rid of it though
