Petition: RMT tell blocking options for players

I'm on Phoenix(EU), and while I do get a lot of RMT tells, we are still only talking about 1 every 30 mins or so in my experience.

Malboro is out of control. I saved a video of my chat log after being logged in for an hour. I was going to post it but I don't know how to black out the names on the video and I could get in trouble on here for that because Dfhfddd Gtggssr has more rights than we do if I post the name.

If I opened it up full screen on my 52 inch TV it was about 3 pages long of RMT. Last night the friend request crap started again got about 5 in 30 minutes. It is spiraling way and I mean way out of control. For the most part I just ignore it, but the friend request thing is getting annoying. Thats why I think having tell filters will not worked we'll just get really spammed with friend requests.

What I want is a way to remove my name from the search engine, like having an unlisted phone number. Or something in your search preferences line that one can do to prevent these asshats from searching your name.

Oh and they are starting to use shouts too, you can't black list those names though because it seems like after the shout is sent the character is deleted. When you try to blacklist the name it just says "character not found" or something like that.

Although them using /shout isn't really a problem, is it? I mean, like I said, people spam the chat with FC recruiting and whatnot, which is just as annoying...

They could at least make it a little harder for them, by changing so that you can't send tells or friend request people through the player search function, as well as not being able to use tell by just writing the name in chat (would make no difference otherwise).

Only way they could send tells and friend requests then would be to see you, and/or you're speaking in the shout chat or whatever. It would at least bring down the problem.

Who even uses the player search to do that anyways? and I have never used /tell by manually writing down the name after.

If a tell filter is implemented then the shouts would go up 10 fold or more. The only place where I see alot of shouts anyways is Mor Dhona, which I don't spend too much time there. Its like going to the mall, I go in get what I need and I'm out, no need to hang out at the food court.

Yeah, but I feel like it's much easier for SE to handle the RMT that way.

Someone could probably come up with a solution to that problem too, I can't come up with anything right now, but I'm not an employee of SE who has that as a job either

Block tells for players up to level 10? That would only cause inconvenience to new players trying to learn the game and trying to ask newer players for help maybe they don't want to ask whole zones in shouts. RMT would simply set up a FATE bot and take the 30 mins to level to 10, the higher you increase this the more inconvenience you cause to legitimate players and having minimal impact on RMT.

Blocking befriending from RMT, how would they do this? only allow befriending if we really want to, but if everyone has this filter on how would this work? if they start allowing us to prevent being befriended everyone will have it on and unless we were chatting had to manually disable the filter. People would then start complaining about the extra clicking.

What I was saying is why should I have to suffer through RMT spam just because I want to be social, I don't play an MMO just to sit alone, if I wanted that I would just play a single player game. If I see a new player shouting asking for help, I would want to talk to them in tells. There was one time I got kicked from a party and started talking to another party member about what happened. I enjoy talking to people, but why should I have to suffer just because I want to be social?

Because you suffer anyway because the people that would use that filter are using /busy right now. Nothing changes.

Here's a few simple, but effective ideas how to deal with this problem and the side effects:

1) Blocking tells from people that aren't on our friends list, our FC or any of our linkshells.

2) Blocking tells/say/shout messages from people that are under level x so new lvl 1 to x characters that RMT use can't message us or
public chat before a certain level that WE get to choose from 1 to 50.

3) Also blocking friend requests from RMT or from anyone else and letting only us befriend someone if we really want to do so.

Ok we all agree RMT Tells are horrific in number these days, I think this is the 100th post I've seen about it.


But please stop with these ridiculous suggestions. Blocking tells is a terrible solution and blocking friend requests doesn't even make sense. Blocking tells from new players? You were new once and wouldn't want all your tells/say/shouts be blocked. I know I wouldn't have.

This is exactly the reason since I have also seen around 200 posts about this, but SE has NOT given a proper response regarding this issue. They haven't commented it at all. This is the exact purpose of this post to put an end to this once and for all. That's why I asked people to like this post and show their support to this cause to end the endless discussion and speculation revolving around this and actually receive a proper response from SE what are THEY going to do about this or what they have planned to do, except ban the accounts that buy / sell gil. We all know that, but it's not actually solving the problem itself.

/busy blocks tells from new players. it's not anywhere close to a ridiculous suggestion. it just makes it so instead of using /busy to block ALL tells, they use a feature to block some tells.

It is the exact same thing that if you are forced to use /busy to block out all the tells, it's a bigger bad than actually having an optional setting for it because that also blocks new players from asking for help. I have never been asked for help in tells anyways so I don't think it's that common. Usually people just go and invite new players to linkshells and FC's to get more people in and from there they get the help they need or then surf the interwebs for advice.

I know I have been a new player too, but I hardly ever asked any help from anyone regarding anything with this game, possibly because I'm a veteran gamer and I know my ways around alone. Maybe when I joined a linkshell I might have asked the LS about some things, but I never went around shouting for help or asking in say. These message blocking utilities are supposed to be optional. What I'm merely asking is SE's own opinion on the blocking messages thing. With smart filters where you can input words for messages you don't wish to see, like .com or <insert random RMT company here>. Anything, we just want a response on this issue.
