Lolorito won't be able to be as direct as he was in the past, but a good businessman is 'adaptive.'

Nanamo's proposal isn't redistributing wealth to the populace, she's just trying to make political power more 'representative'. She admits that Lolorito would probably find her naive, which is probably true; Lolorito would most likely be one of the first to exploit the new system.
Thats the reason for, after the events of 2.55 if Nanamo survives, thats she will regret her desicion of making Ul'dah a republic and will try to make an stronger monarchy.

This could be acceptable, but only if they deepen the green hue in Nana's skin color, and change the meal you prepare for her to "BRAIIIIINS..."

Well any one is actually easily killable as long the developers make sure every portion of the story that requires them is required to be completed before the event that kills them. And just like quest npcs the replacement npcs would not show up till all the flags are checked. I believe the Crystal Braves in the city states act like this not showing up for new characters till they make it that far in the story but I am unsure.

But in the grand scheme of things I think the characters that were killed and or betrayed us were design from the beginning to be so.

That's precisely what we're discussing. A new character shows up and gets too much time in the limelight? BAM! A character brought in to lead this other storyline develops into the only NPC besides Minfillia to basically admit they have a crush on the protagonist? What, you weren't really expecting him to stick around were you? SLAM!

The writing team has more or less fallen into a trap where the old characters are too ingrained into the setting, so the only characters that can be written out for any reason are new characters once they have been developed enough to be memorable. I'm beginning think we can think of any characters who start to develop too quickly in the expansion as being lined up at the gallows.

Considering every story update comes with a major patch, I think that SE could easily replace NPCs when they show up in a small amount of sidequests like Nanamo has. It would just be part of the update.

That or they could just leave the quests the way that they are, and still kill the character. Narrative inconsistencies are all ready in the game, anyway. Things like the dhomans showing up late in the story, but you can still do the ninja quests while in the 2.0 story, where they reference just having arrived in eorzea. Or Rev Toll's development having no visible significance to anyone jumping into the game right now.

Actually, this is one case where I thought they handled the inconstency quite elegantly. There's nothing in the game that suggests the Ninjas arrived WITH Yugiri. They do mention Yugiri as having met you in their dialogue - but only if you HAVE met Yugiri. The dialogue is different if you do the NIN quests before the Main Scenario gets to Yugiri's arrival.

Two seperate scenarios involving these characters: either they arrived before Yugiri if you haven't gotten that far in the Main Scenario, or they arrived after Yugiri if you have. The dialogue changes either way to reflect your situation.

As for Revenant's Toll, there's also no in-game dialogue linking Mor Dhona's obvious state of construction to any specific thing in the game. If you're at the correct spot in the Main Scenario, you'll find Doman NPCs hanging around to be credited for the work. If not, the lumber and bricks and stuff are just unattended; presumably SOMEONE is working with the materials, they're just not around at that moment.

SE's being very smart and consistent about this. It remains to be seen if they can keep it up - and whether they decide to get even MORE ambitious, with the death of a main character or something similar.
