There are alternate tellings of the same story depending on if your character survived the calamity or not.
It's not too far fetched to have them make a slight deviation depending on if you've completed the "x character is now dead" quest.

Quest-givers/main NPCs can die/disappear if all the quests they appear in follow a set linear order, or other circumstances render their quests unplayable (such as the 1.0 -> 2.0 jump). Louisoix was 1.0's Urianger, but since his death caused the version up, the other quests he handed out are no longer available. Likewise, Gaius only appears in Main Scenario quests across 1.0 and 2.0, and since those follow a linear order, there are no complications that can arise from his death (or not death).
It would be quite difficult to justify a change to an active quest if an NPC involved in them suddenly dies or is otherwise taken out of commission by another quest, so the assumption for now is that NPCs in multiple questlines are nigh bulletproof. Given that, it follows that if an NPC could be left hanging by the end of any single quest (i.e. Nero), they can't appear elsewhere without that story being resolved.
Truth of the matter is, the game is simply too new for us to know one way or the other.
Note that if we follow the logic that Nanamo is safe because she shows up in the Culinarian quests, it also means we won't be bringing Lolorito to justice any time soon. Bit of a double edged sword.
What if raubhan dies instead? He doesn't appear in any side-mission, yet is also a very important figure. I can see him sacrificing himself for Nanamo. That still allow for Nanamo to abdicate the throne and take the place as GC leader
And why would you want to bring Lolorito to justice, pray tell? The evil Lalafell is Teledji Adeledji, in case you mixed them up.
"To Justice" was probably a poor choice of words on my part, since I'm uncertain if Lolorito has done anything Illegal persay ((Can't recall if he's involved in the Ul'dah starter missions, and I haven't leveled a Paladin, which I hear he may be involved in maybe)), but he is certainly a dick who's karmic retaliation is to be made to look like a fool everyso often.
You say that like there can be only one evil Lalafell. Lolorito's been an "evil" character since the beginning, and TelAdel is just the guy they came up with to work around Lolorito's essential flag. Anyone who started in Ul'dah with 2.0 knows Lolorito needs to be taken down more than a few pegs. I'm really looking forward to stomping some Brass Blades in the next patch.
I've been anticipating that for a long time. Dude has Eddard Stark syndrome worse than Eddard Stark himself. Kan-E is also vulnerable for the same reasons, but we haven't seen her siblings in a major MS context yet aside from a few walk-ons (which is a completely different reason for her to get bumped off at some point). Again, I don't want anyone to die, but "death" and "only technically not death" seem to be the only way the writers feel that stories can be given weight. I guess someone major losing a limb or something would be too difficult a subject to handle.
Tuesday feels so far off...
I understand that this would be easier to change than the scenes themselves, but I'm wondering about Dialogue. I pretty sure various bits in the beginning of the White Mage questline mentions how Kan-E Senna is busy. Is there any similar mention of Raubhan.
Alternatively, SE could just say - this is an MMO, people can deal. An kill people like Nanamo off anyway, and still leave her in the Culinarian quest.
Lolorito is a douche, but he's a not a particularly traitorous douche, unlike Teledji. He's very utilitarian and business-oriented, and given the wealth and control that he has, a conversion from a sultanate to a republic probably wouldn't change his influence all that much. Lolorito won't be able to be as direct as he was in the past, but a good businessman is 'adaptive.'"To Justice" was probably a poor choice of words on my part, since I'm uncertain if Lolorito has done anything Illegal persay ((Can't recall if he's involved in the Ul'dah starter missions, and I haven't leveled a Paladin, which I hear he may be involved in maybe)), but he is certainly a dick who's karmic retaliation is to be made to look like a fool everyso often.
Nanamo's proposal isn't redistributing wealth to the populace, she's just trying to make political power more 'representative'. She admits that Lolorito would probably find her naive, which is probably true; Lolorito would most likely be one of the first to exploit the new system.
