Well I'm praying that they never die. And I'm convince that if an important character appears on a sidequests, it means that he has inmune to being killed. SE would have to remake lot of stuff and I dont think they will do that.

Well, my two favorite new characters got bumped off in the same patch, and one of those I was apparently supposed to be happy about. It's going to take a lot for them to make me care about any new characters that show up if things keep going like this. There's only so far that kind of storytelling can go, you know?
Not saying they should kill off any established characters, or anyone, but maybe "anyone can die" is not the best direction to try for when existing restrictions on the setting make that impossible. But this isn't a critique thread.
All the scions (Especially Minfilia) die, and when the GC leaders convene to find out what happened, assassins take out Merlwyb, Kan-E-Senna, and Nanamo. Raubahn unites Eorzea, and marches north with the Warrior of Light to free the oppressed from the grip of the Garlean Empire.
My dream of the 4.0 storyline.
As for the original topic... some people are safe, but not all. Honestly, Raubahn is probably going to eat dirt eventually.
Now that you've been sufficiently called on the carpet; your move, rhetorical, flatulent, fustian, gaseous, gassy, grandiloquent, oratorical, orotund, windy, bloated, elevated, florid, flowery, grandiose, highfalutin (also hifalutin), high-flown, high-sounding, inflated, lofty, ornate, pompous, pontifical, pretentious, stilted, tumid, turgid; overdone, verbose, wordy - BOMBASTIC.
I wouldn't say that it prevents them from being killed.. they could easily swap that npc out.
Look at the cutscene where you ask the syndicate to take in the doman refugees. if you've done the hildibrand story before that cutscene you will see Godbert at the table, if you haven't hes a hooded figure.
Actually he's always a hooded figure. But that would be an easy change to make. Replacing a major voiced character, not so much, though I think it could happen.
I'm not sure I'd say "easily" but yeah, this. If SE decides that a "plot armored" character needs to be taken out, they can manage it. They'll have to be pretty careful about it, though.
For instance, in the case of the CUL final quest, the CUL needs to prepare a special feast for Nanamo. If Nanamo dies at some point in the plotline - or becomes otherwise unable to attend dinner, SE has to hande not one, but TWO additional situations.
First, if Nanamo is dead/unavailable when you start the CUL quest, is easy: just prepare the dinner for whoever replaces Nanamo.
The second is trickier - if you start the quest with Nanamo still alive, then complete whatever quest kills her, and then complete the CUL quest. Now you've prepared dinner for Nanamo, but she's no longer around! Do you give it to her replacement? Present it to her grave as an offering? There could be some pretty significant changes, in this case.
Tricky, but not impossible. I wouldn't necessarily assume that ANYONE is totally safe.
If a character dies in a level 55 quest I'm pretty sure they will still show up in a level 50 quest. I think people can fairly easily parse "level equals further along"
Well given enough work no one has 100% plot armor. Safest a npc can get is being a static npc that gives quests ie Urianger. Anyone else really comes down to if SE is willing to go back and add new flags and changes to quests. Given how much devs have to work on and the pace they go they would likely avoid going back and tinkering with "done" content. Any inconsistencies could be written off as echo or timeline "bubble".
Npcs fall into a few tier examples based on how much work it would take to change/remove them.
Extremely unlikely: System reasons, gives quests etc -Urianger. Too popular/represents XIV - Y'stola
Very unlikely: "plot armor" Minfilla, appears in numerous sidequests - Godbert.
Unlikely: appears in single sidequest or referenced by often by others - Nanamo, GC leaders.
Somewhat unlikely: only appears in MSQ, never mentioned by name outside of msq, is a instanced npc - Yda. Papalymo
Likely: recently introduced npcs - Moenbryda
Extremely likely: no name npcs, wears a red shirt...

Not to dig up graves but, does given the people who remember 1.0 and those who finished coil. Where does Louisox fit in the death immunity category of plot armor? Or did he die off for the sake of plot? Then there's Gaius. His ending is kind of ambiguous.
Safe bet to say NPCs in the open world are 100% safe, whereas in smalled instanced areas where it can appear different for each player depending on wher they are in the story. AKA both of the Scions bases in Than and Mor D. Where it does change, Go their before the attack and before they move their is more Characters, whereas after there are less. But not to those who have progressed that far.
