Oh, your talking about the last two dungeons. Yes. They are sadly a problem. To get people to run them, they reward end game currency so people run them otherwise the queues for them would be very long. The problem is that their cutscenes are way too long for mid dungeon. Even getting compensation, which they do, people tend to be impatient in waiting. I personally did watch the cutscenes but was locked out of most of the fights my first time through.

This is a design flaw that fortunately SE doesn't repeat. Its a problem and I found it frustrating too but the up side is SE seemed to learn from the issue and cutscenes tend to be far better arranged in latter content so you shouldn't find this as a problem going forward.

All the cutscenes are in the inn. There is a dropdown menu at the top of the interface that allows you to access cutscenes from different things. Most of the cutscenes from those two dungeons are actually listed under Duties.

Now I can actually complete the mission and the game and hopefully get the relic item without missing anything. Thank you for the positive, helpful reply.

in every mmo there is spoiled apples in a basket but if you see in it there are more good ones than bad ones just trow the bad away, so if you get to play whit jerks just leave can do other fun stuff waiting for a good team may take some time but it be worth it maybe even someone from your own server that you can play with again, can play some triple triad or some crafting, gathering, fishing, collect minions while waiting, this game have been out for some time now but is still a new game since it did become version 2.0 so they are still working to make it better, so turn that frown to a smile and let your adventure in erozea begin

I'm not trying to sound snide or rude (the glory of only having text), you really should invest in a keyboard if you're on PS4. Trust me, it'll save you a lot of headache, especially when in dungeons. Most players greatly appreciate it when a new person lets the party know they're new. Most of us vets have no issues taking a new person through, explaining mechanics, as long as we know to do so. If getting one is out of the question right now, others have suggested making a macro to say in party chat that you're new.

That said, I hope people haven't put you off from the game. It can be an enjoyable experience, especially if you find an awesome free company and make some friends. If people continue giving you a hard time for being new, screw them. They aren't worth your frustration.

Ok making sense now so ya that's a real problem with the last 2 story dungeons there are too many cs and other people want to get other stuff done.

So ya make a party finder for that stuff you need to.

You also need to realize that there are other people here and they have other priority's on their minds than waiting for people to finish watching a cs.

I was mad when I was told to skip the first time but I realize its not fair to the others who are there for other reasons that was not me getting my clear.

And there are plenty of helpful people in the game just don't expect them to stop what their doing to help with everything.

Actually, not every cutscene appears in the Unending Journey, as players are now belatedly discovering (for instance, the scenes getting the passkey for Maggie and trooping through the Magitek Research Facility). Also the ones that do appear are often listed under differing titles (some under Duties and some under Quests), breaking up continuity. Not to mention you lose the consistency of the fact the Praetorium scenes especially are meant to show your party members there with you facing down your adversaries, which, if you're in the Undending Journey, it's just you there, and it looks... silly.

Thus I now recommend to everyone regardless of whether you are just starting or not, don't skip cutscenes! As you never know if that scene will be watchable again or not, which if not, would be missed forever.

To Assassin, I know it's tough dealing with inconsiderate players (who forget all too readily they were once new as well doing those dungeons for the first time), but the best thing to do, is, the first time around, don't feel guilty about watching the cutscenes and then just accept that you'll miss out on some of the battling (unless by talking to your party beforehand that you wish to view the cutscenes, and you never know, they might actually be happy to wait for you!). Once you've passed the final dungeon, then queue in Duty Finder for CM and the Praetorium again and this time skip the cutscenes and do the battles! That way you get the best of both worlds and everyone is happy. (Or at least, I hope that's what the result is ).

Actually, the amount of health someone hasn't doesn't necessarily mean they're a newbie. They could just be leveling up a new class-- for example, I've finished the entire story and am in endgame content now. I just started leveling Archer a little while ago, so if I go into a dungeon as Archer, it will show me as being level 22 because that's my level for that particular class. I'm far from a new player, though.

New players should not be bullied into skipping cutscenes, or locked out of battles!!

I concur with the earlier posters who point out that all too frequently veteran players seem to forget that they were once new to the content, or to understand that some players (often Final Fantasy fans, unsurprisingly enough) really appreciate experiencing the game narrative in context rather than watching it on YouTube or in the Inn.

Fortunately after one awful group I managed to get a party of helpful players (notably tanks and healers) for the Praetorium who said that they watched the cutscenes when they were new without being locked out of battles and encouraged me to do likewise.

Unfortunately if people are overgeared they can basically rush through everything and even ignore most mechanics. Instituting iLvl sync would help, at the possible expense of reducing the number of players in Duty Finder.

As suggested, Party Finder and making friends in the game is the best solution. Recently I was in a learning party of people on my server for Turn 1, and it was great!

To follow up on that, definitely get a cheap keyboard for your PS4 if you don't have one already, so that you can tell people that you are new and make sure that they are not going to lock you out of boss battles or try to get you to skip cutscenes. If they aren't OK with that, you can quit the duty and try again in 30 minutes.

As a final comment, I hope in the future that veteran players consider that helping new players enjoy the game story (particularly in story-heavy missions like CM and the Praetorium) is a good thing to do, and not just a waste of "your" time.

A friendly and helpful community is one of the best things that you can have in an MMO like FFXIV, and it's what will help it prosper and grow into the future.
