    New plaer

I am not being selfish, as it's my FIRST time playing, there may be something in the cut scenes that may be important. If the others run off and leave me, I'm left standing twiddling my thumbs for half an hour, doing nothing, not gaining experience or knowledge of how to defeat monsters because they do all the work.

Except for the dungeons, you do the rest of the main scenario solo, so there is nobody to take over, and you can take all the time you want.

In the dungeons, where you have a party of other players, they'll usually slow down and give you a chance to see everything if you let them know that you're new. They may give you some pointers as well, letting you know what's coming up in the next boss fight, and so on. If, even knowing that it's your first time there, the level 50 players you were grouped with still take over and leave you behind, then you unfortunately got stuck with a rude bunch of jerks. That happens sometimes when you're playing with other people, especially if you get matched up randomly with those other people. Forming a group yourself by finding like-minded players to join you can improve your odds significantly.

You can't do the last two story missions in solo, you need help. How in the dungeons etc are you supposed to let them know your a newbie, surely they would guess that from the amount of health you have and then play to compensate for that especially when your on the PS4

I'm not trying to sound snide or rude (the glory of only having text), you really should invest in a keyboard if you're on PS4. Trust me, it'll save you a lot of headache, especially when in dungeons. Most players greatly appreciate it when a new person lets the party know they're new. Most of us vets have no issues taking a new person through, explaining mechanics, as long as we know to do so. If getting one is out of the question right now, others have suggested making a macro to say in party chat that you're new.

That said, I hope people haven't put you off from the game. It can be an enjoyable experience, especially if you find an awesome free company and make some friends. If people continue giving you a hard time for being new, screw them. They aren't worth your frustration.

Actually, the amount of health someone hasn't doesn't necessarily mean they're a newbie. They could just be leveling up a new class-- for example, I've finished the entire story and am in endgame content now. I just started leveling Archer a little while ago, so if I go into a dungeon as Archer, it will show me as being level 22 because that's my level for that particular class. I'm far from a new player, though.

How is that helping me?
What 'main quest' are you talking about? Storyline quests are not repeatable unless you happen to have a party which you invited some high levels to. In which case you tell them you've never been there so please do not go speed running. As for cut scenes, you can view all the storyline ones in your inn room.

You have to talk to your team. Most of the people who play this game are very helpful and understanding, but you have to say something. Yes there are going to be those donkey players but in low level stuff it is rare to get one, or atleast I thought. Every time I have asked for help and to go slow, everyone was very nice about, they remember that they were new once too.

There is the party finder too where you can set terms and people from your server can help you. Again I have done this too, and it always turns out good and we all have fun.

You're not being selfish, you just want seven other players to sit around twiddling their thumbs while you watch cutscenes? Okay. The game is designed to incentivise people to run "old" content for the benefit of people who need to do those places for storyline progression, without that there'd be almost no interest in doing them and you'd probably not be able to complete the main scenario at all.

If you want to make a non-duty finder group to go at a level-appropriate pace and watch all the exposition, make a group manually via Party Finder and specify that it's not a speedrun and you won't be skipping cutscenes. Good luck with that.

Is this how you treat new players, you would rather me do nothing for half an hour than have a level 50 player wait for TWO mins when you have two hours to complete the quest.

If it was only 2 mins, no one would care.
