Then you limit the amount something can be sold for on the market board. Each item its own particular limit.

Thus completely destroying any hope of a free market and completely screwing the economy.

Supply and demand should rule all, it also gives those who play the market an added amount of fun within the game.

Supply and demand works when the system works.

Right now the system is screwed when a Group of RMT/cheaters have access to over 50+ billion gil in reserves across all FFXIV servers. While the average player has trouble making their own gil go past 1 mil simply because "they" have the money to play the market.

Free markets exist on a level playing field. This is NOT level.

Welcome to the real world. Economy works exactly like this. People can sell their items at a fraction of what it's worth to stores, or put it up on Ebay and hope someone else buys it at a reasonable price. It's called supply and demand for a reason, and it's how everything works in the financial world. There is no level playing field because not everyone is contributing to the circulation of these goods in equal number.

If everyone was gathering and crafting, there would be no market for this stuff anyway, so someone somewhere is taking the easier route of paying for it rather than trying to make their own. Doesn't matter if it's materia or items, the same rule applies for both.

The Problem is it's RMT/bots screwing with the majority of the prices and forcibly ruining their competition.

Example. Rose Gold Ingot HQ goes up for 50k. avg price is 55k.
2 minutes later... 800 Ingots go up cut down to 25k ea.
The retainers are named Gjhg Lyhjg; Tlj Jhgfhgfgfhf;etc.... Looking like this:

Rose Gold Ingot HQ - 25,000 G - Wasdft Yefgh
Rose Gold Ingot HQ - 25,000 G - Wasdft Yefgh
Rose Gold Ingot HQ - 25,000 G - Wasdft Yefgh
Rose Gold Ingot HQ - 25,000 G - Wasdft Yefgh
Rose Gold Ingot HQ - 25,000 G - Wasdft Yefgh
    ... up to twenty.
Rose Gold Ingot HQ - 25,000 G - Hhbkhh Ykhkjkjkkjk
Rose Gold Ingot HQ - 25,000 G - Hhbkhh Ykhkjkjkkjk
Rose Gold Ingot HQ - 25,000 G - Hhbkhh Ykhkjkjkkjk
    etc...

for 800 more etc... All sold at 1 per.
This forces players like us to sell ours cheaper which they then buy and then I see a guy called "Gtty Khjgjhg" purchase all of them and start reselling them at a higher price.
    This is monopolizing the market.
In real life there are government countermeasures vs. unfair trade practices. Just look up United States Antitrust Law.

I have no problem competing with real players because we are both under the same limits. Sleep, Food, etc... but when your competing with RMT/Bots you no longer have that option.
Your a human vs a corporate team with teamed resources. You are Not going to win. I have a friend who has every craft job 4 star w/ gathering and he has about 100mil atm after 4 months crafting 3-4 star items and selling um but his profit margin is small. Only 20% of the cost of materials.
So he may craft 3 artisan items HQ after farming Echtal Sealants for a week (he doesn't dual box). Then sell these for 700k to a mil making only 1.2 mil profit compared to just selling the mats outright.

That's a character with their stuff maxed. He has zero time to do dungeons and his highest battle class is i110.
I truly pity new players trying to get into the economy because it's not just player made... it's becoming corporate.

A completely free market in a video game can be abused very well if the playing field is not just human.

Unless it involves Internet Service Providers, then it's ok for one company to monopolize a county with no competition.
