Earlier were posts saying limiting the market, capping sale prices etc.., or making the sale price of items [to] NPCs would screw the economy because it would be like printing money.

    lol

Printing money would be the same as giving gil away for nothing.

You still have to farm the item, run the dungeon, and spend hours upon days to even get something worthwhile or break a mil. Even fleece at a NPC sell price of 50g would still take 202 stacks of 99 NQ to break a Mil.

    Time to Money.

That's not how this works...that's not how any of this works....

Your solution would increase the gil in circulation, I do not know how else I can get that across to you. If you dramatically increase the gil in circulation the gil itself becomes abundant, with little to no gil sinks to REMOVE the gil from the server at a steady rate, it increases rapidly and it starts to have less buying power. With less buying power the prices on the market board will increase, but not in the way you want them too, they will increase relative to the influx of gil. This will not solve the issue you are having in the first place.

Your next suggestion was to cap prices on the MB to counter this effect, again, completely destroying any type of Free Market.

Then you stated a free market had to have everyone on equal footing which is when I just /bow out of the thread as that's just a ridiculous statement as a free market does not care if you are rich or poor, only on the supply and demand of an item and what the market deems its value to be.

I really have no problems with people trying to figure out ways to solve economy and RMT problems and I would be behind you 100% if I thought this was a good idea, but it isn't.

Having an NPC pay you for things is basically the same as printing money would be IRL. If you buy something from another player, no new gil is created. It transfers gil from one player to another, basically just shuffling already-existing resources around within the system. There's no huge, overreaching economic impact in that. An NPC, on the other hand, creates "new money", i.e. money that didn't already exist in the economy. If you keep adding massive amounts of new money to the system without a gil sink to balance it out (something to spend that money on to give it value), then gil loses value over time since it's more plentiful than it needs to be.

So he may craft 3 artisan items HQ after farming Echtal Sealants for a week (he doesn't dual box). Then sell these for 700k to a mil making only 1.2 mil profit compared to just selling the mats outright.

That's a character with their stuff maxed. He has zero time to do dungeons and his highest battle class is i110.
I truly pity new players trying to get into the economy because it's not just player made... it's becoming corporate.
Er. I have all of my crafters four-star ready and a few of them with the four-star items unlocked. I'm sitting on around 80mil. I have two classes close to max item level (i130 left side and pentamelded i110 right side, 135 weapon) and a third one at around 123. I find plenty of time to do dungeons and things like raiding and pony farming. I dunno. I don't really find it all that hard to compete in the economy. o.o

Guys, I think i got the solution to this RMT problem. Make FFXIV use communism to make everyone have the same amount of Gil. Every hour all Gil is taken and spilt equally among everyone on the server.

(I'm joking I hope you know)
