Wooo I've had a lot of catching up to do after taking a break for a few months, but I've been following this thread nonetheless! Not quite sure if I will be able to apply to the YT cycle because I'm fairly busy, but even if I don't, I still have a lot of fun watching the cycles!
Adam and Sangriah, I am super jelly of you guys cause I can't draw at all! Amazing pics! TwTb
I'm not quite sure if everyone in the YT2 thread is understanding the close-up shot correctly, unless I'm mistaken that is. Is it going to be like for cycle 3 was, to be used in a banner? So they need to be uniformed? Or is it supposed to be a random close-up shot of your character doing what ever? So would that make it a freestyle shot?

xD It's a close up! Just zoom your camera in and take a picture! xD
Some people will put on glasses, others will be looking off into the distance, others will be (oddly) wearing blm af covering their entire face.
I just want a close up so I can see what your face looks like. ^^
I just wanted to make sure, I wasn't totally sure, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask, I just remember last time I was asked for a close-up was for a specific purpose. Thanks again Rongi <3xD It's a close up! Just zoom your camera in and take a picture! xD

Oooh yea! I think in Cycle 3 it was used for the banner? In the Youtube Edition we have a full body shot used for that, that we also use to do the model fade outs! ^^ All that will be in the email I send out when I cast the show, and we will have a skype convo too to answer questions and stuff.
I'm in the midst of reworking my application, utilizing only in-game assets. UwU I had to wrangle the assistance of my husband in order to take some of them, because let's face it getting a lalafell up close is just asking for a clipping disaster.
I'm temporarily unable to do much due to moving last weekend, and I won't have internet at my new place until tomorrow at the earliest. So I'm updating from the office!
I also am wondering how drunk I was when I logged out. Looking at that profile image...Ty, what the hell are you wearing?
ANYWAY.
I have results! And they're quite interesting, to me at least.
26 people took the time to offer their opinions through the poll, so thank you for that! Getting feedback like this truly helps make the contest even better going forward. I for one have learned a lot from this about the way I need to structure things for Cycle 4 to make things as entertaining as possible for everyone
On to the results!
How much weight should judge scores have vs public voting?
54% 75% Judge, 25% Public
19% I think Public votes should not count for elimination, just to bring back a model for the final round (As in the YT Cycle)
19% 50% Judge, 50% Public
8% 25% Judge, 75% Public
Should voting be done on the forums (Public view) or through a form like this (Only the host sees votes until the tally)
58% Through a poll
42% Through the forums
How should the shots be displayed for voting?
69% Randomized every week
15% Alphabetical Order, rotating (wk1 A>B>C, wk2 B>C>A)
15% Alphabetical Order, same every week
Should there be an "Introduction Round" where voting is conducted but nobody is eliminated?
69% Yes
31% No
How should the judge critiques be handled compared to Cycle 3?
73% Cycle 3 was just right
19% Cycle 3 was too nice! *HURT ME, SENPAI!
8% Cycle 3 was too mean, be nicer!
What should the cutoff be for shots requiring a specific dungeon?
35% I do not think shots should ever require going to a specific dungeon
27% Level 50 (Including DREX and all Primals)
15% Level 50 (Hard Roulette Dungeons only)
8% Level 30
8% Level 20
8% Level 40
How many models should be in the final round?
85% 3
12% 2
4% 4
I want to share some of my observations briefly. First off, there will definitely be 3 models in the final round - that option was overwhelmingly the most popular response! Making those numbers work happens to play very nicely with the very popular intro round option, which will also be making an appearance in Cycle 4.
The voting was close on round voting being done on forum vs a form, with form voting winning by a smallish margin. I'm not 100% sure which method I'll go with yet but I am leaning towards form voting knowing that it's the (slightly) more popular option as I feel it does help eliminate some concerns we saw come up in past rounds. More fair all around, if you ask me.
Another overwhelmingly popular option was the randomized model shots each week, which will also be used in Cycle 4.
I'm actually somewhat surprised by how well the no public vote option did! But there was a huge gulf between that and the 75% judge, 25% public vote balance so that's what we'll be going with as well.
Again, thank you to everyone who took the time to vote! More news regarding Cycle 4 auditions will be coming soon!
(Soon is a relative term dependent upon when I get internet back!)

This is generally my only concern. As said in a very old post by Rongi Pongi himself, having the list be completely randomized each week would be slightly troublesome should some participants end up getting slapped to the back of the list multiple times in a row, or if some end up being in front of the list multiple times in a row. I personally advise you to please think about this small point a little more deeply before making any final decisions.

Ty.. i think, and my voting on your survey supported that, was to have judges have 75% voting power vs. 25% public along with keeping the forum voting. if the judges have the power then there is no harm in having forum votes and in my opinion, if you take it to a private off site voting format you (may) lose public interest in the contest overall. Coming from both a model and judges pov here, one of the best parts of the contest was seeing how well i did/how well my judging matched public opinion. People want to feel like they are involved, making a difference, comparing their choices, rooting for their favorites, etc.
(hope this makes sense)
