Given that the release date for Heavensward is officially in June, Cycle 4 WILL be held before 3.0 drops. I intend to theme it around a celebration of everything ARR, with shoots designed around the various things that helped pull FFXIV out of the fire and turn it into the game we all love today. I don't have an official date in mind yet, but I want to let you know a few things.
First off, this Cycle WILL be shorter than Cycle 3. I felt that Cycle 3 started to run out of steam towards the end. Note, that doesn't mean fewer models! So don't get discouraged if you were planning on participating. While I will be capping things for obvious reasons, I'm more inclined to have less rounds and more double-eliminations than fewer models.
Secondly, I'm going to be putting up a poll sometime within this next week to get some fan feedback as to some changes to the format - most significantly how voting should be handled in regards to judge scores vs public scores.
Thirdly! As I mentioned during the last cycle, judges will have to "audition" as well. When I've settled on a date, I'm going to announce how that will work too - for now, I would like to prioritize previous judges/models for the judging positions.
Lastly! It's been a while since Cycle 3 ended. I've been tossing this around in my head a bit and have decided that for Cycle 4 applicants there are to be NO restrictions or requirements. "But Ty, you dashingly handsome pirate with an incredibly sexy accent!" I hear you cry. "What does that actually mean?" Well, it means that unless you're judging everyone can apply. Previous model? Come try again! Previous judge? Same! Previous host? Even Rongi is welcome to apply if he wants! It also means that I'm not planning on sorting by race/gender. Last time we had a lot of issues with people dropping - which actually worked out in the end, but I'd like to avoid that again. I feel that restricting ourselves to x race or gender applicants only hurts us in the long run. Does that mean we're going to see a lot more Miqo'te than Elezen or Roegadyn? Yeah, probably. But that's how Eorzea's population goes and with Cycle 4 being a celebration of all things ARR, I almost feel as if winding up with an applicant pool that more directly represents the population will be fitting. I also don't feel right about restricting some very strong applicants merely because most of the population happens to have a tail, or be three feet tall, or whatever.
That's all for now. I'll be posting more later in the week. So, in the words of a man we're all very familiar with...
Please Look Forward To It.
