This was posted today and honestly if RMT spam tells increase it's because they are close to being snuffed out by SE.

It's the way they work the closer they get to getting caught the more aggressive they become, they work hard to sell all their merchandise cause at the end of the day their objective is to just find that one person who will look at the tell and say "Hey I could use something like this"

How about this, Why don't the players do something about it. Im so tired of seeing these threads. How can the players stop this? Stop buying Gil. Its that simple.. They are going to be around as long as we the players go off and buy Gil. Its just like world hunger- you want change, how bout you be the change..maybe something to think about.

Because the people that are most upset with the problem are buying gil... right.

I have no control over the buyers. No one other than the buyer and the seller has control over the transaction. If you believe that the people who have the largest problem with RMT are actually buyers, you really need to re-think your argument.

I think asking all players to stop buying gil is a bit naive and foolish. There will always be undesirable people who buy it, and the people who can do nothing about it.

I'm pretty sure most of the people in this thread don't need to be told to stop buying gil....

Best that the company, who has the most realistic power to stop it, does so as much as possible. The fact that on some worlds, people can't even go without busy status without having to deal with a tidal wave of spam sort of says SE isn't doing enough and could do better.

Never will happen. There is always a segment that will buy. It also adds to the problem that SE only seems to be going after the sellers and not buyers. But we know SE will not punish a bunch of paying customers

Sweet! All the power I have... let's see... Oh I know! I guess I need to tap into SE's servers and grab their code and do some crazy work to their code and rewrite things and somehow get all the changes I made updated to all the players! (This is sarcasm for the truly dense >_> )

We make these threads to try to get SE to really understand our frustration so they can decide it's worth their time to make these changes. SE isn't going to act unless there's a large population of players complaining about something and that's how I feel at least.

You know... there's a really easy solution to this. You pay some intern kid minimum wage to sit at a computer, and idle, just waiting for the tell beep. Then banning the account that sent the RMT spam. Sit him next to half a dozen computers each on a different world, and just ban, ban, ban. Give him 40 hours a week and a job that isn't difficult.

Heck, you know what? I'd volunteer for it for minimum wage. Put me in front of ten computers, and let me be master control.

Oh, but right. 40 hours a week at minimum wage is worth 80 active subscriptions, isn't it?

Face it, kiddos, SE isn't going to bother really going after this unless it's actually costing them more to not. What would help the player base is an account-wide blacklist, and a -drastically- increased blacklist space.

What they NEED is to do absolutely [expletive] ANYTHING about the issue, which they clearly aren't. There have been a LOT of different suggestions to deal with this, and many of them are good. If even ONE of them were implemented I think we'd cut SE at least a LITTLE slack, but there's a reason all of these threads are tagged with "SE just doesn't care".


And to the guy who said "just stop buying gil"? Gee willickers, that should be easy since I'm not enough of a stooge to waste my money on pretend game money to start with. I want to believe that's a troll post since it's painful to think that such a stupid/naive pov could be held genuinely. I don't buy gil. My friends don't buy gil. But we still have to endure this rubbish at a rate that is absurd. If I could arrange to find buyers and give them public floggings and shaming, I absolutely would. I haven't seen /say spam yet, but "yet" is a very important qualifier. I've already had to disable shouts and tells. I suppose it's just a countdown now before I block everything other than LS and FC chat.

There's no war happening because SE doesnt even bother trying to do anything to restrict tells by low level bots, as easy as that may be.

I don't know why SE won't listen to such simple requests that keep popping up for a serious issue that *can* be fixed with minor restrictions as seen in other (non subscription based)-mmo's.

Guess they're busier coming up with ideas on adding more flawed rng based rewards for future content.
