To think, all they have to do is one thing.
To think, all they have to do is one thing.
I know, I'm just nostalgic for the days when specific botting problems were solved with violence.
I'm honestly of the opinion that as long as the folks doing the RMT are determined to get their 'product' advertised, they'll find a way. There's always a parasitic element to games like this. Account-based blacklisting is a pretty solid idea but that might just put more of a focus on trying to steal accounts belonging to legitimate players in order to advertise there. I don't think there's a clear cut solution, but it hasn't gotten that bad yet- I'm willing to put up with being annoyed on occasion. Server economies getting ruined, on the other hand. Might need a more heavy-handed approach. But as far as I know we're not at that point yet.
Just give me preferences as to can send me tells and friends requests, it's not that hard. Enough is enough already. I don't want to be busy 24/7 and I shouldn't have to make that choice. FIX IT ALREADY!
Yes because I personally get over 70 RMT tells a day if I leave busy off and it's been such a problem I actually have counted. You are railing people for not being specific about their word choices and making it sound like 'everyone' has this problem. When in actuality, we talk to others and hear others have the same problems as us and form a collective mentality that this is a global concern. You have made it clear that you do not have spam tells from RMT personally, good for you. Those bannings that were linked haven't helped us and that is why we chose to ignore them.
After SE has done nothing but link account bans for months and I watch my RMT tell spam grow and get worse, cynicism kicks in. That is the reality of our feelings. Instead of looking at the world from how you feel and perceive things, try opening your mind as to why there would be cynicism in our minds at all. Certainly we have a reason to feel the way we do and are not just randomly choosing to crap on SE for no reason.
Um, why do you think SE only takes action once a week? They report the action taken once a week, that is not the same thing as taking action once a week.nobody is being cynical... nobody is ignoring the fact SE takes action once per week against RMT activity.. nobody is claiming, or acting, as if SE isn't doing anything...
HOWEVER, therein lies a problem. taking action ONCE PER WEEK is hugely ineffective. again... unless something changes, we will quite literally never see even a slightest decline in RMT activity.
something you just may not be able to understand, simply because your experiences vastly differ then from the average player.
Argh! Posting limits bug the crap out of me....
This point is well made, and has been made many times, but some players seem to think that SE can magically wipe RMT away without addressing the simple fact that without a market of buyers, RMT dies out on it's own.
That said, account wide blacklists recommend themselves, as does a "report as spam/harassment" option for dealing with RMT spam or harassment.

When it's nothing but cynicism a voice speaking up to balance things out IS necessary. Just like the person before who posted the RMT bannings that everyone likes to ignore when they act like Square does nothing.
This thread IS NOT your echo chamber. It's a forum where anybody can hop in and speak their mind either for or against the topic. I think you should find a way to accept that. Or you know, go look up the definition of a forum.
Keep that in mind when you start making blanket complaints. Don't say..
Instead say something about how YOUR server has it bad since you clearly don't know the situation on other servers.

People are complaining about RMTs again ?
man I can't even...
Get real. RMTs are here because they have a market. On Balmung, I had rarely if even a tell. Bad example cuz of character restriction BS ? yeah ok, how about Cerberus (my current server) ? It's not overcrowded like Balmung, 100% open, yet decently crowded and the market there is overly inflated because of a crafting LS negotiating the prices and overpricing like there's no tomorrow, so RMTs should be here and spamming like hell right ?
But nope. I'm not even sure I got a single tell in the last month. Why ? because they have no market on my server.
You want to blame someone for the RMT feast ? BLAME THE STUPID PLAYERS. You live on a server where they have clients. Your loss.
and seriously, can you name even ONE (not dying) successful MMO where RMTs aren't selling ? They are always here, because people always buy their gold. Even in a game where gold is as insignificant as in FFxiv. No matter what the companies did to make the spam stop, the RMT were able to bypass it

They report once a week. That doesn't mean they act once a week. Come on now.
Kuwagami had the right of it. You're server is likely targeted because people on you're server buy gil. If they didn't have a market they'd go away. Blame the players for sustaining their business.

I just want right click + report RMT feature that will also mute the gil seller and all tells incoming from that account. T_T
