PPL are always going to game the system and I don't fault those who find the best way to do it. It's up to SE to prevent that.

I find it innacceptable that Square Enix again did something like that.
Triple Trial is the best thing they have done so far imo. But this tournament is just sensless:
You can hire some friends with higher elo than you and ask them to let you win
You can give money to people and ask them to lose...
In my server some dude are paying 5 10 15 millions gils to win all their matchs

Square ENix if you read this please next time change the rules:
Just create a place for matches where trade is unavailable,
or dont let people fight who they want, choosing 10 15 NPCs would be a great idea as well
And don't let people watch the elo...

i think square enix had an idea of what they were doing, but there are a few major floors.

first, they needed some sort of match making system, that way you can't just challenge an alt for a free win. simplest way to solve that is have the person que up and then the 2 contenders get teleported to an instanced off room. Second, 15 matches for a whole week is stupid. that is way to small of a number when using a ranking system because thats what this, not a tournament. with such a small number people would still que up against each other in off hours and wintrade. also a it would need a proper system that deducts points for losing and matches higher ranked people against other higher ranked people. This is very important if you want a dynamic ranking system where the person at the top can't grind wins and be untouchable.

what they need to do is make it ranking battle season that last 1 to 2 weeks and the top 10 rated people get a lightning card. first place could just get a larger amount of mgp.

No. What they should have done is spent 10 seconds thinking about this format before green-lighting it. But now if they cancel it, they'll be screwing anyone who played legit and placed.

When SE learned that ppl were exploiting Ramuh EX by using titan-egi, they didn't wipe ppls wins/gears. I'm sure there are other examples of this.

It is equally the players fault when they misuse something as it is SE's fault for lack of foresight leaving it open to abuse.

You are right in that they will not cancel the tournament though, I do not think they need to personally but they need to have no further tournaments until it is fixed after this one has ended. Ideally also prevent cheaters from gaining the Lightning card, the MGP reward does not matter as MGP is not gated and can be obtained many other ways but the card cannot. Yes SE cocked the mechanics of this up by allowing players to pick their own opponents, they need to remove that option as top priority but those abusing the system are not blameless, are not innocent and yes they are also partially at fault for exploiting it and ruining the spirit of the tournament for the vast majority of others. If anything I have more contempt and disdain towards people paying to win in this case than I do at SE for their bad design of the match making system used.

What SE could do if wanted to be really sneaky is make some characters in game themselves and then place them in the top 3 spots on each server to stop anyone from benefiting potentially from cheating to gain the unique/limited cards (it is cheating, in no real world card tournaments would you ever be allowed to benefit from paying to win via buying those wins and would get banned from the tournament if found out). They just need to create temporary in game characters and manually place their scores and by proxy their characters at the top 3 spots on each server to stop anyone getting the cards this time around while the system is broken. Anyone could get MGP at any time from many other sources but those cards are very limited so that is the major problem which people have in letting this tournament continue with cheaters at the top spots on many servers.

Perhaps SE knew what they were doing and simply wanted to leave it up to the players on how they want to run the tourney.
We dun goofed and SE must be like sigh starting to lose hope in our community runned events.

Everywhere in the world there will be someone trying to exploit his position and/or powers, be it a politician, company employee/manager/director or just plain folks doing what they can to abuse the system. Some are just plainly corrupt and pay people to shut up/ vote for them/ put their money somewhere so they don't pay taxes / etc

IF YOU REALLLLYYYY didn't see that coming, well you must be either really young or super deluded about our current modern society lmao.

Especially when it comes to online gaming, with no repercussions and with only 3 chosen ones who can earn a unique card. AND a whole bunch of MGP (140,000 MGP is quite some time saved, even when you take 7K MGP per hour of farming Indolent Imperial into account, that's still 20 hours of grinding you don't need to do with that prize)
