Err, direction? This is what the Mogstation was designed to do. This event is hardly the first time it's happened. Every seasonal event since the one-year anniversary has been this way. The only items you could buy from vendors were items released before the launch of ARR, with very few exceptions (I think the swimwear was post-2.0 but buyable one year later right before the Mogstation was fully set up).

It's been like this since Halloween 2014, with Christmas, New Years, and Valentine's Day also working this way. Ever since the Mogstation opened, SE has put minimal effort into the rewards for the seasonal events. Usually it's one new item that looks cool and a couple housing items. Valentine's Day had no interesting wearable items at all this year, just an okay-looking outdoor housing item.

Having the main rewards for seasonal events be a couple housing items is cruel and terrible. Housing is strictly limited to a handful of people with newer players being literally unable to ever own a house (unless SE adds more wards, and they're on the very second the new wards are added since all the smalls will be bought out in seconds). On top of that, the housing rewards are almost always outdoors items. The limit on outdoors items is extremely small, and most people with houses have already reached it. So, even the people who are lucky enough to have a house can't really show off the new items.

I'm not really that disappointed though as I don't really care about seasonal events in the first place. I just don't see the point in continuing to pretend to hold them when there will never be worthwhile rewards again and the old ones are no longer ever going to be available in game again.
