this has happened to me more than once.. it's frustrating as hellWhilst I was waiting for entry, already queue'd up for 21 minutes, my friend decided to queue up for his respective roulette as well. 14 minutes later, he got entry and I didn't.
When he got back out of his match, he queue'd up again and he got instant-entry. Whilst my queue accumulated up to 52 minutes. Lastly, while he was doing the match, one member of his team left so there was a spot open and again I didn't get entry. I tried to queue up alternating between roles every minute and I just couldn't get in. So I gave up. .
this ^^
The fixes needed are obvious but SE is being stubborn.
First: Remove GC restriction. Sorry roleplayers but us PvPers want to kill you without waiting 30 minutes a turn.
Second: Give people a Frontlines Roulette reward boost. Secure isn't popping because Slaughter has the achievements. It will continue to be dead until there is a slight incentive to go back. Changing the roulette reward will make this happen.
Third: Allow light parties and less to Q for Frontlines and Roulette.

1st: not going to happen (anytime soon) because its GC vc GC vs GC. They would have to completely redesign PVP from the ground up nd that it's happening with heavensward so close. I agree there is something wrong with the queue and yes I want to get in without the horrid waits but... there are just some things they are not going to do because it take a lot of time and resources to do what you are asking. The fixes needed are obvious but SE is being stubborn.

2nd: You *do* get a reward boost, just like every other roulette. Once a day. Secure does pop because I get it often enough.
3rd: You can queue up in parties if you are in the same GC. Never have tried qeueing with a parting into the roulette though yet. I have however qeue'd many times with people in the same GC. If you are talking about roulette only, don't include Frontlines in general, sorry in advance if you and your friends are not in the same GC.
Have you ever programmed before? This is an easy fix. It just removes restrictions when creating parties. It would probably be as easy as commenting out one if... then.1st: not going to happen (anytime soon) because its GC vc GC vs GC. You don't actually receive GC rewards from Frontlines so no issue there. The achievements might need some tweaking. To get over this you either earn achievements towards the other GC or you make a mercenary system where it still rewards your own GC's achievement.
50 and 20... Am I missing something? PvP forums suggested a PvP experience reward for this roulette. I like that idea.2nd: You *do* get a reward boost, just like every other roulette. Once a day. Secure does pop because I get it often enough.
The roulette is single player only and you have to be in the same GC to Q for the specific instance. These restrictions need to disappear.3rd: You can queue up in parties if you are in the same GC. As a matter of fact, yes I have. I have worked on systems from waaay back in the MUD days and created new content/designed new areas up to MMO including GW2. Just an easy fix, I think not.
For it to work the way you are suggesting, they would need to revamp it similar to what Rift did once upon a time when they added the 3 generic pvp teams fighting against each other.
Their whole concept is Adder Vs Flames vs Maelstrom. They would need to change it to 3 completely separate unrelated teams, or remove everyones dependence on 1 GC. For example, if you are a member of the flames, you cannot upgrade your reputation with the Adders and/or Maelstrom factions without declaring you are no longer a flame (for the time being and a cooldown period) For PvP if you are part of the flames, you are competing against the adders and maelstrom. You can't *just* remove the limitations on the party makup. This is a core concept.
Can you, if you are a flame, even go over to the Adders, talk to their NPC, get their GC quest or even dual them in TT? No, you can't.
Here is what you are asking them to do: revamp PvP; change their lore; with the changed lore, create new lore for the change; change how GC interract with each other; modifying all the affected NPC to reflect new changes to dialog; DF changes for new grouping system; achievement changes; reward changes; title changes; cutscene changes; communication changes (you are currently barred from all forms of outgoing chat outside the instance, this would possibly no longer be required); probable other changes that I can't even think of at the moment up to and including possible localization changes.

I agree. Even Ballista in FFXI eventually did away with the restrictions on their PVP. Simply put a quick dialog with your GC and a few tweaks to how the queue works (sorting people into teams freely rather than by company) and add incentives EX: more PVP EXP and a data-center wide Ranking/Leader Board you've essentially fixed the problem.
I think you are confusing how little GC actually affects Frontlines besides team placement. BTW, I'm NOT saying make it 3 generic PvP teams. You can keep the GC for symbolic reasons.
Lore changes? Just call them a mercenary and problem solved.
There aren't any GC rewards that I know of. I already acknowledged the achievement changes.
You don't need to change NPC interactions at all. You don't need to change communication at all.

pvp players could careless what flag they are representing , they just want to....gasp....kill other players... and fast queues help them do that.

It's always takes me over an hour to get into PVP so I just don't bother with it now. It's a shame because it is a lot of fun but the queue times are just too much.

I've had very funny things happen in PvP Q as well.
For example: A friend and I Q up at the same time. I didn't let him know I was so we weren't in a group. It pops for me, not for him. I get in, spots are open because some people didn't accept. Match starts. Spots are still open, and they stay open till the point that the match doesn't accept new members.
The only way I can explain that is a stream of players who were ahead of him didn't accept their in-progress pop. Which is kind of odd. Very odd.
He didn't get a pop for a good 25 minutes, btw.
