Community - The Most Likely Cause of the Game's Downfall

The rule of thumb is this for loot is this:
A. You run as the job that can need it
B.You can ask (nicely)the party in advance if they can pass it on to you; especially if there's another person on the same job as you.

There's been plenty of run where a person asked nicely to get X gear and we all passed since we either don't need it or already have it.

Lastly, I always roll greed just in case no else does. So frustrating when i roll pass and everyone passes on the loot. Such a waste

I would like to say my issues with the system and some of the players I met with it:

I'm not going to say the system is busted or whatever, but it really does suck when people press Need specifically for Glamour/BiS/Synthesize when there are other weaker party members on the team. I don't wanna hear the excuses, it's just how I see it and it sucks but that doesn't mean I don't aim on the glamour side myself OR it's a deliberate troll/dick move.

I had 2 times where I asked in the polite manner if I can have this gear(CT Tank gear for my Elezen because let's face it Lorica gear is HORRIFIC on females and Scylla Gloves for my Roe because my Evenstar gloves clash badly with it) and I don't even get an ANSWER FROM THE PERSON WHO ROLLS AND WINS IT! In CT, the other Tank didn't need the CT hatpiece, but he never said anything about wanting it either, he just rolled on it, laughed and left. And yesterday, the other mage(yes, I rolled as a BLM and mainly had a Mage party...) again said nothing and rolled on it even when the others said they'll pass. My main issue is INTENT and not voicing it.

I'll usually say dead out what I'm aiming for(either glamour purposes or gearing) if there is multiple classes as the one I'm at and I usually get a bit pissed when no one says "I need it too" and just rolls on it, it just makes me see them as slimy trolls.

Otherwise, I do try to be considerate to those who are weaker than me if I don't need and I won't raise a fuss if I play Monk and a Dragoon piece drops and vice versa for my other alts. And going back to the top, atleast be CONSIDERATE enough to state whether you need the pieces for BiS/Syn/Glamour, don't just take, you don't really look good doing so and continuously staying silent after the fact.

Why are you trying to shame people for rolling for gear they've legitimately earned? Sounds like you're just looking for an excuse to bully people into giving you what you want.

I disagree, I played FFXI for 7 years, Wow for 2 years, DnD for about 6 months and a few other for months at a time. FFXIV has the best community I've seen out of all others I've tried.

I'm not saying there isn't bad seeds but for the most part. I don't run into people while playing that are just jerks.

As for gear. Well my need for Points to convert to gil is just as valid as your need to equip a job..

Only one time I've ever been asked to pass and I did.

FFXIV has one of the best communities i've ever seen, only really rivaled by EQ1 and Champion's Online in my eyes. Though the former was much more party driven than MMOs of today, so you either had to be at least somewhat friendly or not get anything done, and the latter basically devolved to a social game of people playing with barbie dolls over time.
The thing is, high population games will also have a high population of jerks, and those jerks will cause other players to become jaded. Also, "community" is less based on the GAME and more on the SERVER.

I know people want to make this as the haves taking from the have nots. It isn't, it is about people feeling they are more entitled to something than someone else. Time is the ultimate resource, getting upset because someone won't give you something they spent their valuable time earning is a failing in your character not theirs. You can ASK for gear that you can't NEED but your claim or need to it is no important than anyone else's. The fact that you are here complaining about it says EVERYTHING we need to know about you not the rest of the community.

Don't hate the community for acting ultra insular. Duty finder breeds this community by removing any community building blocks and even making it hard to try and create a community.

Blame the game's ecosystem for catering to these players.

Everything SE does is counter community right down to the base game systems.

What I dont get is people blame duty finder for everything.. Duty finder does not make someone: a you fill in the blank. You have to be a blank to begin with.
I think people think they are anonymous in DF so they can act like a blank.. You can look everyone up on load stone and still report them for acting like a blank. I mean I use Duty finder all the time and I dont go off acting like a jerk just because I am Duty finder.
I think the real problem is lack of GM support in this game and how hard it is to report someone.

I'm not asking whether I deserve or want anything or doing any of that nonsense you are assuming. Simply saying you need it too is more than enough, randomly acting like you need to say nothing and act as if you deserve it is exactly what you are saying I'm doing. Freaking hypocrites.
