I always look at those I am in group with and will pass accordingly if it is something I can see as being a large upgrade to them. I am not sure if you are meaning your friend is working on their relic and wanting gears for their other non-50 classes while farming ?? But it is not the purpose of the group to help your friend gear up sadly. I would recommend making a " help a friend " group to cater specifically to your friend's desires if that is the case.

Although there are some that would not mind passing as they're just queued for trial roulette (if asked in advance ?) and don't care about the drops, but it's really too much to expect complete strangers with no affiliation to you / friend to pass on loot despite them equally dedicating their time for the same clear.

You can't always get a full team, more likely not during the working / schooling hours of the server.

Then you can't complain that you didn't get all the drops you want. Or your friend can't complain they didn't get all the drops they want. If you want someone else to follow your lotting rules, then you must preform and agree on rules otherwise you don't have any right to get mad if people don't do what you want.

That said, if you got me in random group and asked me to pass on something before it started, then sure I would do that. But that is because that is how I am. If you asked before the fight/dungeon started, you wait until it drops and I might not. Once again, that is just me though and you can't expect anyone else to feel the same.

It's some of SE's fault honestly. They keep adding things that require a lot of seals, so everyone is rolling on green gear and primal weapons. I don't blame people when you need a ton of seals for any of the new DoH/DoL tools and bombard cores for zodiac. Adding desynthesis didn't help things, either.

If you had any credibility with your opening post, that killed it right there. Stealing? Really? Does the gear belong to them? No, so they aint stealing anything. You can only need drops if you are on the relevant job, otherwise you don't need it that badly. If wanting for a job that can't even equip it yet then you dont need it, as when you get to the point you do need it you can run the content as the job and click need to roll on the loot.

GC seals are used to progress the strength of your character either with the relic or for crafters. Both are relevant progressions as equal as someone needing the drop to actually use.

Let's say you have been working as a supervisor at a store for two years. A handful of new hires have recently started working and require training. After they have been working diligently and learning the ropes and all that for a while... one day the store manager approaches you. Do you want to know what I think is "considerate"? Rolling on loot that dropped due to my contribution. I'm not going to pass on something I worked to have a shot at getting just because it's going to benefit someone else more than me. If I don't get it? I will run the content again. If they don't get it? They can run the content again. It's not hard.

Unless it's a farming party where items have been called and locked, or everyone in your party is a friend/guildmate, I can and -should- roll on whatever I please with zero qualms. And in doing so, I -should- be no less considerate than I would be if I passed on it.

Precisely, it is SEs attempt to keep GC seal farming relevant. Honestly it is a system that works, it keeps people doing old content that they other wise would not be doing.

I'm sorry but I didn't realize that running the content failed to give me any rights to the loot. Maybe I just shouldn't run it at all. I'm sure that would help.

Seriously though you're just whining. If I run content then I will lot on the pieces that drop. They have uses outside of just new players and square has seen fit to encourage that time and time again. Don't come here setting "rules and expectations" for people that are yours and yours alone. My time is not free. A newbie is not entitled to the reward just because they are new. We all had to win the lots back in the day just the same way they do now. They can do the same. Also, they can go on classes where they have the option to NEED the loot thus limiting their competition in the first place.
