Actually now that I think about it perhaps "Vampires" could be Blue Mages in a lore perspective similar to how in Final Fantasy XI Blue Mages sacrifice there humanity to become beasts. Or similar to how all Death Knights In World Of Warcraft are Undead. I mean it would make sense since vampires are transformed humanoids and the only distinct feature they really possess are fangs, and pale skin.

Now I know that jobs don't change the physical appearance of the player, but perhaps when you equip the blue mage job your appearance could change into a vampire humanoid. (Example: Undead Lalafell with vampire features)

This in my opinion could bring to the game some interesting and dark lore, and take the blue mage into a level that they have never gone to before. Heck it could even potentially beat the epic lore of the blue mage in FF11.

It sure could. Only thing left is to explain why vampires chose to name it 'blue' magic

We don't know. She turned up a few pages back, but as she is never referred to as such as is never stated to drink blood, oppinions are divided wether she is a vamp or no.

Official clarification would be nice. Anyone?

While we wait for the much needed dev post that clarifies Lady Amarandine's nature and the chance of Ishgardian vampires, i think it should be mentioned that if vampires ever become killable and/or playable they probably won't have a weakness for sunlight. Actually, as the game works they likely won't have any weaknesses at all.

Whoops, Nosgoth just unveiled a new vampire class.

For those unaware: Nosgoth is a Square Enix game.

I might be wrong here, but I think this has been "revealed" since 1.20 (Lambs of Dalamud event where you entered Sil'dih Aqueducts).

As far as I'm aware, you are correct - the destruction of Sil'dih by zombie apocalypse has long been known even back in 1.0 (Erik the Ala Mhigan scholar first mentioned it, you know, the MNK quest NPC). And it wasn't Ul'dah that were responsible either - Sil'dih actually were in fact the instigators of their own destruction, as the war with Ul'dah was going badly for them and they couldn't replace the increasingly large losses in troop numbers they were suffering, so they turned to zombifying their fallen troops out of desperation.

Of course this backfired on them horribly, when the mechanism of the zombification (from what I understand, it was biological in nature), spread to Sil'dihian civilians as well, which naturally Ul'dah exploited to their advantage, turning a conflict which until then had been over scarce water supplies, into a holy crusade to send "these zombies straight back to Thal." Needless to say, Sil'dih didn't last long after that.

So Sil'dih not only lost the war militarily, but also turned it into an utter public relations disaster. Hoisted by their own petard, indeed...

In any event, the fall of Sil'dih has long been known - the Hildibrand questline only, to use a pun, fleshed it out more...

Well I wasn't there during 1.0 so I wouldn't know. At any rate if a zombie plague is possible, a vampire plague isn't inconceivable either.

Another group that should be looked into ar the Padjal. They aren't really their own race, just a handful of hyur that were mutated after their birth by the elementals to serve as a connection between them and the people of Gridania. A similar trick could be done by the voidsent.

I'm really excited for more info on Amdapor/Gelmorra/ Dark side of Gridania.

We have some information about all the other ancient civilizations, but not so much about Amdapor other than the did magic that transcended limitations (?) It was also where the 6th Umbral began via flood.

WHM provides succor at the cost of draining the land's energy (back then) and then there were conjurors that uses life-force to heal people. It's not too had to believe that they used other's or the land's life force to live longer. Modern day WHM hear the Elemental's voices in their head, who's to say they cant commune with voidsent in the same manner back then.

Now that the Elemental's are weakened and despite there being WHM practioners (padjals) the voidsent there are running amok; Perhaps this is just a hint to how the Ambapori were like.
