While not quite the same as traditional vampires; succubi --to me-- are vampires in all but name. In the case of ARR they drain aether (usually tied with life force) off of people.

A while back I was looking for anything vampire related in game and found this.

My thought was that it was likely named after something that exists in Eorzea :P

Yes, they are at the very least a special type of vampires. Still it would be nice to have one that I can have more meaningful interactions with.
Yes, and there is a vampire fish as well as I recall. Whatgives me pause is what I mentioned above with the Garlean Garlic. While the phrases vampire and vampiric are known to Eorzea, bats are considered more of a threat than bona fide vampires.A while back I was looking for anything vampire related in game and found this.

I think some sort of Draconian vampire could work. Having a connection with Ishgard and dragons would make sense, as one of the most famous vampire names, Dracula, actually means son of the dragon.

Exactly. A common misconception is that it means son of the devil, but yes, it in fact means son of the dragon. In fact I mentioned in the OP that in Final Fantasy Tactics S, the vampire class is exclusive to the Gria, a race of humanoid dragons. Or draconic humanoids. Or whatever.
Son of the dragon. Hmmmmm. Maybe the Archbishop cursed Saint Shiva for lying with dragons and for this reason some Au Ra are born as vampires. Like the Padjal and the Hyur.
Hmmmmhmmmhmmmm. Imagine a long questline involving vampires that terrorize the citizens of Ishgard only for it to be revealed at the end that the Holy See created the curse.
Oh I like this. I like this alot. Thanks for the idea.

Good lord please no. Sick of generix vampires in every video game. How about some unique creatures to Eorzea instead of these generic fantasy creatures? FFS.

Yeah, more unique races like goblins, kobolds, mandragora and dragons.
Jokes aside I totally understand where you are comming from. Every video game - except for Elder Scrolls, Witcher, and VtmB - has the same kind of hollywood vampires. And although I have no problem with the classics - even prefer them to a degree - I would be disappointed if Yoshie and the gang didn't give Eorzean vampires a unique flavour.
