It's only natural. By their very nature male Miq'ote are loners, who won't risk themselves for anyone else. Look at the lower feline species from that world called Earth. The lioness hunts for all the food, and cares for the young, she coordinates with the other lionesses. But the male, the so called king of the jungle, he's laying out there somewhere in the sun waiting for someone else to take care of things so he can swoop in and steal the credit - typical male cat. But if there is a job to be done, the 'king' makes himself scarce leaving the female to take care of things.
