Are you really trying to call someone ignorant when you think acknowledging your playerbase is an ideal? You can't refuse to accept reality lol.
Gah thanks now I'm going to be lost for 3 hours on a wiki walk through tvtropes.
If it offends you, don't participate.
This isn't interracial.I wanna complain too, there aren't any interracial couples (black/white specifically) my wife and I are an interracial couple irl and I demand that SE represent us too!
And why stop at same-sex, interracial? Why not inter-species, Chocolina had to come from somewhere!
They're both elves.
SE doesn't care. I don't care. No one is going to care of the lack of guy on guy banging. Grow up, play the game or go into your system files and uninstall. Just because the ice cream shop doesn't sell cookies doesn't mean they should because you said so.
I think the "problem" may be a bit...cultural. Even though Western nations are fairly progressive in regards to same-sex relationships (in some areas. "long way to go" yadda yadda yadda) Japan is...not.
At the same time they can get away with a lot of implications and subtext, but they can't really overtly celebrate it. So you'll have situations where there are same-sex couples who will talk about their significant others, but you won't have them actually announcing their preference for the same gender.
So yes, there is an absolutely bizarre situation where you can talk about your relationship with someone in great detail, but you can't actually directly talk about the fact that you're gay. If this makes absolutely no sense to you, welcome to Japanese culture. Where you can BE what you want, you just can't talk directly about it.
On top of that, while the Japanese version of Valentine's Day has romantic subtext, it's mostly about different gendered relationships. While it is touted as the opportunity for girls to give guys they like chocolate, it's also an opportunity for them to show appreciation for other men that have been part of their life, such as siblings, friends, co-workers, clients, and bosses. White Day a month later is where the men return the favor. Yes, Japan managed to give platonic implications to a romantic holiday and gave birth to another one in the process.
They DID miss an opportunity, though, since the set-up for their own holiday is a good pretext for lesbian relationships forming.
Are you trying to condescend to me without taking in the context of the initial post as well as mine which was it was a direct response to? Stop reading only what you want to read.
