You understood his post perfectly fine. It's just the same thing I've been saying over and over here. It's just people being content with blaming the parser for the user's personality, and the common misconception that providing one in-game (whether it's a personal dummy parser, or a party based one) will somehow change everyone into elitist psychopaths.

The rest of his post is valid, but it's not based on anything but fears and opinions. The facts have already been stated, but a lot of people feel like disputing those, clinging to personal belief, and somewhat illogical fears instead.

People are afraid of something that could already be happening, but hasn't been for over a year. They're afraid of people being jerks, when everyone can be jerks. They're afraid that their fun will be called into question, when DF and PF is already by and large, that way when it comes to difficult content. It's just a long list of stuff like that.

If I make a Ramuh EX PF, I'm putting i110 as the minimum ilvl because putting it any lower raises the risk that the people you get won't be able to get the adds down in time. I've seen it happen on more than one occasion: a group with an average ilvl 100+ (which is over 15 ilvls higher than the minimum requirement) wiping multiple times to Judgment Bolt. That's not a gear issue, that's a "people don't know how to play their jobs" issue. At least people who are i110 might be able to kill the adds simply by virtue of their ilvl even if their rotation is terrible.

It's hardly ridiculous to expect people to be competent at their role if they're going to participate in endgame content. The fact that we can't expect that is what leads to high ilvl requirements and "three strikes you're out" rules.

I've been playing this game since Oct 2013 and have been raiding ever since I got to end-game and never parsed. I thought I was doing great until I couldnt clear ScoB(t8 and t9) due to enrage timers. See all I did was conserving my cooldowns until the dps checks and I thought that was correct. Not for SCoB. I tried to join a static and couldnt get any. Some pointed out my low dps. So I started parsing and made our fc striking dummy my waifu. lol. I never looked back. Now Im a better bard than I ever was. I also reflected that it could have been me that kept the groups that I joined from clearing scob.

Now when I'm playing through df I really dont care if the other dps parses high or not. He could probably be on ps3/ps4, doesnt raid or undergeared if he parses low. No need to judge. Heck you dont even need a parser to know if dps is high or low in df.

Exactly this. There is a reason people will demand a higher iLvL than necessary and that's because if people under perform at the expected iLvL (which is is quite often in Party Finder), then one of the only way to make sure the necessary checks are met is by demanding for people to overgear the content to compensate for their lack of performance.

I do know what it means. And since you ask, I'll answer:
    • a person having, thought to have, or professing superior intellect or talent, power, wealth, or membership in the upper echelons of society:
    • a person who believes in the superiority of an elitist class
Now, with that answered and out of the way, let's be clear . . . We already have the tools - we're already using them - and we can do so without trying to pressure SE to officially endorse something into the game that can and will be misused by a bunch of trolls. We're making a bigger deal out of this parser subject than it already is. In fact it's no big deal at all. We already have awesome parsers out there that do the job quite well - I personally use Advanced Combat Tracker and it works beautifully.

I understand the OP asking a small question about getting a parser in-game . . . and the devs have already made their intentions not to VERY well known . . . and instead of just going "okay" and continuing to use the tools we already have, this thread is blowing the issue into some crazed controversy that makes it sound almost game breaking. It's not. We already HAVE the tools. If people can't be bothered to take 12 seconds to download and double click an icon to parse then those people are absolutely NOT serious about parsing - and are thus really just trolling SE for the sake of trolling.

You keep saying it's so easy to go get a parser.

    Yeah. For PC players.

What about me? I'm on ps4. What about the tons of other ps4 players, and ps3 players?

    "Just get someone on PC"
Not that easy. I'm on Jenova. Ps4 players are the majority here, not the minority.

I promise you ps4 could handle a parser so that isn't the issue. Ps3 could too believe it or not, I bet.
So why can't we have a parser?

As has been stated more than a hundred times in these types of threads; Console players can't download ACT or XIVAPP.

Currently, "DC Universe Online" has an in-game parser. Sadly, it sometimes make people turn to demons. This is because people, most notably the DPS, brags about being on top and then down-talk those who are under him.

I imagine this would be a problem in FFXIV considering there are different DPS with different gear with different playstyles in the same content. A BRD using Mage's Ballad vs a BRD using Foe's Requiem at the same time will allow the FR BRD capable of dealing more damage, thus someone calling the MB BRD out.

Exactly. And that's the type of behavior that Yoshi has stated SE doesn't want to endorse here.

And then you report them and move on. Power corrupts, what do you do to corrupt people? Remove them from office/impeach them.
