I started crafting after 2.4 was released, every single gils i had and made went into gearing up my crafters. Last night I failed 32 times straight to meld +3 control to Artisan's offhand and it was 4th slot with 13% success rate. that was about 1.2 million gils went down the drain.

But on the other hand, I crafted Artisan's apron right after it, i meld 3 x +6 craftsmanship, +4 control, +3 cp to it without single fail. since I ran out of gils, I had no choice to put it on MB...>_<

Your other options : go farm gil and materials by running Duty Roulettes, completing challenge log etc. Buy materials with Soldiery & GC Seals, craft/sell, repeat until you're back up top. Sometimes money right now is the solution, sometimes patience is a better one.

I don't have a single off hand melded because it's just not needed for anything.
If you have your lucis tool, which you SHOULD get before your off hand anyway your stats should be as follows.

472 crafts
426 control
352 CP.

All your offhand should have is 4 Control and 3 CP, but that's not even necessary so I decided to just save my money..
At 472 craftsmanship you're already at a softcap, next one it in the 500s and you won't decrease the number of synthesis steps by any. The one exception I've found to this so far has been the primal weapons.. But you can just use the FC buff for that to get to 482 craftsmanship and you will be able to craft with 1 step less but you wouldn't really be making primal weapons for money anyway.. nobody ever buys them



Another thing of note:

if you've spent 3m each on the off hands, or if you made them yourself, let's say 1.5m. That's already 12m gil for all the off hands MINIMUM.
You can actually craft up to 3 stars with lucis + militia. Or artisan + artisan off hand can do it too, with a bit of a food buff iirc.

Don't expect to make your money back on 4 star crafting, you can even skip the manual altogether if you'd like.. Point is, you need to stay lean to have some extra gil laying around.. So sorry to hear about your apron That must've been a tough decision to make.

I see people with these budget builds and it blows my mind. Whenever they stop and talk to me, they are similar to you. Don't need it, do just fine. 90% HQ with all NQ Matts 4*

But I couldn't give up my 440 control. I have 2 "lean." And... it's just not as smooth. That little extra umph, is so nice and allows for sweet early endings. 9 stacks, let's be done!

Also, I want to throw this out there, Patricians + Lucis + fully melded off hand = dream.

Before lucis, I found 4* incredibly stressful, with this control build I can miss goods or fat finger ever once in a while and keep trucking to 100%. Without it, it was like one false step = doom. Psychologically, I want the wiggle room.

Oh that's true.. I would certainly put more control on my off hand if I crafted more 4 stars..

But I can already hq 3 stars without problem and I just don't see much worth crafting in the 4 star department. Just not enough demand to make a business out of it.

But what I was referring to, is that she ended up risking 1.2m gil, and likely even more for the pentameld and for what? So she can make 3 artisan gear for herself and sell 1 or 2? It's just not worth the investment imo..

I do plan on pentamelding my offhands for CUL and ALC though, I think those have more uses. but not Craftsmanship, NEVER

Btw, why Patrician's?? That's a very interesting progression path.. I've never considered that one before

As to patricians gear, I sb it. So when I produce anything that's under 4* I wear my "gsm low level" set. (or which ever is appropriate)

I make six sets of Patricains and leave it in my armory at all times. If somethings bonded, I convert it and then use the hot key to put on a new set of clothes. It will automatically pull 0% sp bonded gear if the old gear is gone. It's pretty slick.

Ohhh I see.. that's a really good idea actually considering how much crafting I do for just the basic 1-2star mats..
The patrician's are still on 10% tier IV though right? Or is it a little higher?
