...I know about that debuff. I thought she(or he) was talking about a debuff that actually comes out at the same time as tethers which would help the colorblind.
I don't even understand why the developers insist on using red and green in dungeons/raid mechanics when it's known to be the most common color blindness in people. I can't distinguish certain shades of red/green and its pretty bad. I was irritated in T9 on golems before I found out that the green and red golems are also differentiated by their shape of the shoulders.
Probably because red, green and blue are primary colors.I don't even understand why the developers insist on using red and green in dungeons/raid mechanics when it's known to be the most common color blindness in people. Because color blindness or not, red/orange is still a color that's associated with varying levels of danger in the world. It makes sense that aoe telegraphs are colors associated with danger. They stick with that until a fight (like Shiva) comes out where they go for aesthetic...and then have to change it again to help people with colorblindness.
I totally empathize with you, OP, but don't quit the game. At the very most, quit the guild.
I myself am legally blind, but I can still see well enough to function in most cases. There are times though in the game when visual cues are too subtle for me to pick up on, and I or my team suffers greatly. Most of the time they're cool, but there are days when no one feels like getting on mumble to call stuff out and it's discouraging.
Don't quit the game, but if you feel you need a break from raiding, go for it. You gotta do what makes you happy.
There's a reason why there are always 3 or 4 different ways to distinguish everything color-related in this game. T9 golems have different visual looks (after a patch) and even pre-patch, they had different buff icons stating what type they were. Chirada and Suparna had their tethers changed so they're visually distinct even without color and in XM, the healing and dps sister are consistent so you can just memorize. Ninja buffs have different icons so they're easier to see in addition to their coloration. This game is so accommodating to colorblind players, it won an award for it. What more do you want?I don't even understand why the developers insist on using red and green in dungeons/raid mechanics when it's known to be the most common color blindness in people. First of all, the statistic mentioned elsewhere in the thread about colorblindness being rarer in asian males than in european males applies.
Second, some people respond better to color distinctions than shape distinctions and vice-versa. For example, I personally respond best to auditory distinctions for mechanics (Levi's splashes, the divebomb beep...Shiva's one of my favorite fights because you can almost literally fight her blind if you know the audio cues)
The best situation is if they have something colored AND shaped uniquely, which they try to do whenever possible, such as with the half dozen different types of markers in the t9 fight.
Personally I want the Shiva circles to be less ugly. Not sure why they can't just have a "colorblind mode on/off" thing, or maybe find a colorblind person and ask them if each new content would be a hassle for them to deal with. Surely someone on the dev team is colorblind? 12 years ago it was like 1 in every 20 men (in Japan, more than that in the U.S.) were colorblind, so statistically, you'd think, right?
Nonsense I am sure they can use something like Purple/Black, Bright Yellow, Red or Green not both or White. It is just certain shades I have a problem distinguishing a dull red/green look the same to me, but I can tell the telegraphed abilities are red because of its hue. Anyways someone who doesn't have this issue can never comprehend or sympathize with their fellow human beings and that goes for other things in life and that is just sad. Anyways I just came in here to sympathize with the OP so adiós.Because color blindness or not, red/orange is still a color that's associated with varying levels of danger in the world.
