I've raided with a couple colour-blind people before.
The way we handled colour sensitive stuff was that I, or someone else, would call out colours on voice chat when they need to be handled. (e.g. "Blue golem, west", "[Name], blue tether, go to B" ...etc.)

    That was indeed their problem.

We can hope for a lot of things, and it's certainly not bad to have a dream where everyone gets alone and is completely reasonable to one another. However, at some point the realities of human interactions come into play and a large part of that is that we are incredibly complex creatures each coming from a different origin with different values and life lessons that shaped us into who we are right now. We can hope that people get over there basic instincts, and in many situations we should honestly expect it, but what you're asking for is a level of selflessness from everyone on a level that is honestly completely unrealistic and saintly. Both socially and probably genetically since hormones play a large part of this. You're practically asking for world peace level stuff here and if was so easy for everyone to just get along then we'd be well on our way by now, but the realities are that people disagree, have personal goals that conflict with others, and other such differences that lead to all kinds of daily conflicts. A perfect reconciliation between two parties isn't always possible. A middle ground isn't always available. Sometimes it's one or the other and someone pays the price for that conflict.

I think the difference between me and you isn't that I think your message is wrong or that the dream is bad. Quite honestly I think the world would be a better place that way. I think I just have a more realistic level of expectations and I've embraced the reality of human conflict a long time ago. It's not simply that I think you're wrong or that the ideal is bad. I just think that no matter how much you say it to someone it won't change anything. You aren't going to change the world over night by telling people on a forum to be compassionate. Did people like Lady Teresa go out and say it or did they go out and do it? People saw that example, talked about it, and in some cases tried to replicate it. You get more done by leading by example than by trying to beat them over the head with a Mantra. The best you can do is be the best human being you can and hope that other people take after your lead and pass that kindness on. Expecting people to change just because you said so is indeed rather unrealistic. When did that ever work as a child? Parents tell their kids not to do something and the child does it anyway. Learning by experience is always more effective.

Well, mate, it's only been mentioned 50 times you can distinguish the tethers in other ways.

Why don't you link them this thread and clear up the matter? You'll be raiding again in no time, right?

    Right?

    Right?

While this thread is no longer about someone being removed from their team because of their colorblindness, I still wish to share.

My best friend and raid teams' Dragoon is colorblind in her left eye. She normally didn't have trouble with colored mechanics, her right eye compensated for that. When our team finally reached the tether mechanic in Turn 11 however, her handicap became apparent. She plays on PlayStation, so from a distance, they're just too small for her to differentiate. It was really frustrating for her, having to rely on help from myself and another, but through trial and error found the ways (listed earlier in this thread even) to distinguish the two. She no longer needs us to call it out for her, and it made her really happy to overcome her disadvantage.

To anyone who might be in a similar situation (a person's handicap hampering their performance) I strongly implore you to make accommodations for them. Unless the person wasn't very well liked (in which case they'd be removed more for that reason), it's very much worth the effort. Chances are good that they'll figure out how to deal with the mechanic on their own, or at the very least find ways to ease the burden.

I support the OP here. I think options for color blind folks should be implemented. Color blindness is a lot more common than people realize.

We have options to change a lot of colors in the UI. i have customized the blazes out of mine. If we can change a target circle color, I'd imagine something could be implemented to change AoE colors. It's just a matter of "import skin into Photoshop, change hue, export". The hardest part would be writing the lines of code needed to give that skin option to a player, but since they already did that for UI options, I'd imagine they already have the knowledge to go on to make this happen.
