Moving away a bit from Midgardsormr and the Ascians, is anyone suspicious of Ilberd? It could just be me but reading between the lines, I think him and Yuyuhasa are both traitors for the Crystal Braves.
Ilberd is certainly fishy, what with the black marketeer stuff and everything.
He is more than Fishy, there is traitor written everywhere on his face, it would be nice if SE put a little more effort in their plot twist, Nero was barely hidden, and now this...
I think it's pretty obvious he's on the take; not only was the death of weapons dealer suspicious, the entire handling of the affair is shady. (Differing reports?) I don't think he's in league with the Empire, though, I think he's working for Teledji Adeled. I mean what better way to acquire your own personal army? Let someone set up and then buy everyone off.
Hopefully they'll make a twist and Ilbert is actually NOT a traitor and that it was somebody else. If not, perhaps he's working with the Ul'dan monetarists since they will have alot more to lose now that the Crystal Braves are up and running.
But I agree he has been TOO helpful and has had too much screentime compared to any newly introduced characters. It'll be a shame if another right hand advisor will turn traitor.
I have to wonder what the Garleans were doing in the Agrius, since they erected a research station, they were clearly doing more than just salvaging.

If the lake is indeed a seal for the primals then the Garleans have a lot of reasons to go there, basically the garleans walk in the footsteps of the Allagan, Magiteck, primal sealing, world domination.
«Oswold: The elementals are the eternal guardians of the Twelveswood. Since time immemorial, they have watched over the forest and all life within, ensuring that the balance of nature is preserved.
Oswold: By an ancient covenant, man was permitted to reside in the Twelveswood. Thus was the nation of Gridania born, some five centuries ago.»
That's one more covenant, one more guardian(s).
