The 2.5 (Part 1 & 2) speculation thread

The Dragon we see that's in the 2.5 trailer probably is the same dragon that's strung up in the Heavensward trailer. Perhaps he'll be a trial ala Chrysalis. Due to his unique look he might even be a wyrmking that sends the 1st wave of attack.

It seems that Ishgard is going to survive the assault on it mainly intact. Whatever assult the dragon's launch seems as though its going to get driven back one way or another.

Apparently, the WoL traveling alone in the Heavensward teaser is an actual event that will be set up by the events of 2.55...

One or more Scions/major characters will die, and the survivors will be scattered, agreeing to meet up in Ishgard as soon as they are able. Or they'll all die/leave and we're heading towards a core-cast reset in the expansion. Could go both ways, but I'm suddenly really worried for the Scions.

Well we know they will be involved in whatever goes down in Ul'dah cause we see as much in the trailer. More over they also consider the Garlean Threat and the Ascians their issue and Ishgard ties into that, particularly since we have primals getting summoned up there too.

I actually expect the Archons to survive. I'm expecting to see others die but not them. I think its more likely that some of them may end up captive or maybe framed for some crime. There are plenty of disasters that can befall the Scions that don't require lots of death.

The other thing we might see is the collapse of the Eozsean Alliance. If there is a coup in Ul'dah the other leaders may not be willing to work with whoever takes control.

I wonder exactly what will go down in Ul'dah? It's not looking good with all three leaders there

Plus I hear a certain weapon was mentioned in regards to Heavensward...

Thanks to an interview with Taliesin Jaffe, voice of Thancred, we know at least some of the Scions and other members of the existing vocal cast will survive, because they've been called on to do an apparently-substantial amount of voicework for the expansion (and, according to Jaffe, he was "really impressed" by the quality of the writing).

I fully expect there'll some, ah, pruning of the cast, however. Please look forward to it.

At the Fanfest last year it was mentioned that Y'shtola and Papalemo will get some backstory in the way Thancred was touched on in Heavensward so I expect them to survive. I have a suspicion that things in Ul'dah may not go our way and the Scions will be scattered. After all they said we will see the Omega weapon in Heavensward and that would indicate that someone manages to dig it up and revive it.
