Actually, we gained the ability to sense Ascians once Midgardsomr took over.

Is that ever stated? We were able to see/understand Ascians because of the Echo. If anything, it could be our powers over the echo grow stronger.

Early on in the main story, there were points where you could tell the Warrior of Light sensed an Ascian in the area, but by the time they turned around they were gone. I don't think this was something involving "Middy".
