Midgardsormr and his children [Spoilers]

I do recall in 1.0 another wyrm spoken of, referenced as slumbering in the cave beyond Falcon's nest in Coerthas, west beyond Snowcloak.

I thought it started with H... At any rate, the Guards at ishgard would say if you face this dragon, it would be possible for them to grant your character entry into the spiral city.

None of it panned out that way, but the lore is still possibly relevant.

As far as being stripped of Hydaelyn's blessing goes I think people misunderstand what that is. The blessing Hydaelyn gave us is the one that she told us to do at the very start of 2.0 - The shield to banish the darkness will be formed of the crystals of light etc. This is not the same thing as the Echo which is what allows us to understand ascian speech, sense Ascians (Moenbryda (RIP) cannot do either of these things but Minfilia and the WoL can), and withstand tempering.

It is only the Blessing of the Crystals of Light (The thing that buffs you in Prae against Ultima) that Middy removed and used to remake himself, not the Echo.

Incidentally, I'm nicknaming Midgardsormr "Middy" from now on because baby Middy is so adorable yet kind of like a grumpy uncle.

Is that ever stated? We were able to see/understand Ascians because of the Echo. If anything, it could be our powers over the echo grow stronger.

Ascians can use echo too, recall they have advanced access to its benefits, when they enhanced the sahagin in the cs before you fight Leviathan HM

Bahamut isn't a child of Midgardsomr. He was the result of the prayers of the Meracydians for a saviour when the Allagan empire threatened their existence. Whether Bahamut had been a God like figure in Meracydian history, I'm not sure. He is the result of their prayers hence why in coil there are so many dragons in stasis tubes as the whole purpose of Dalamud was to channel the power of Bahamut by perpetuating his existence with the imprisoned Meracydians calling out to him for help.

If 2 of Middy's 7 children are in Eorzea, I believe Nidhogg is possibly one of them and possibly the one we see in the trailer for 2.5 part 2. If we look to XI or previous FF games for ideas then his other children could be Tiamat, Fafnir, Jormungand, Ouryu, Vrtra etc.

In the MSQ, we weren't the only ones who could do that though. Y'shtola did it after the Titan fight, for example, and I get the feeling we've "sensed" other hidden people before we saw them (and/or other characters have).

The fact that it was specifically pointed out to us now that we can sense them is important. Its possible the earlier times we were sensing something else; that strange feeling you get when you think someone's watching you...(also...see the Hildi questline. Good example of people sensing others but not seeing anyone. Unless she is also an Ascian :P) Could be we have had this all along as an Echo power, but it was too weak to really be used, and Mid unlocked more of its potential.

I like to think that Mid's children are the first ancestors of the dragon tribes. One for meracyda, one for dravania, etc... (that would make 7 dragon tribes in total ?)
Whether or not Bahamut is the prime Meracydian is an other question though. Prime =/= strongest
