    Ruskie said most of it:
She allready said that one too, but for various reasons, I get the opinion that it can´t be said often enough:
If you want someone to listen to you, stop addressing them like they are some NPC. That BARD, DRG, TANK etc. has a name and is much more likely to listen to you if you use it.

tbh i do think people have the right to tell anyone how to play, what they dont have is the right to force anyone to play the way they want, and thats basically it.

after POLITELY tell people how to improve or how to do certain things in a better way, it is up to the other person on how to take this and both sides understand the conequences of doing so, the one being given the advice needs to understand the other *if polite that is* is trying to help *and please understand, help/aid is not something you only do when asked* , and one giving the advice needs to understand that he might be seen as a prick even if he is polite, and both need to understand that after doing so they might be vote kicked.

I already was on both sides of this, and usually when i am polite giving hints and stuff it is well received and even get a thanks, ofc sometimes it is just ignored or taken as offense, usually those are the ones that really needed the help but are just too stubborn and arrogant to aknowledge that i was just trying to help and are the ones that are causing issues in the run. proceding to being votekicked. but if i see that even if the person is not doing super good all of sudden becuase of those tips *which is the normal thing, so dont expect a sudden increase of 10000%* and i see that he is indeed trying, i wouldnt vote kick him for that.

Same happens otherwise, couple exemples being when i was doing my first dungeons with white mage *usually heal with sch* the party said i could/should dps some as well, and i replied saying i was still getting the gist of playing with a white mage so i would rather not do that untill i am confident i have the experience to do so, and they got it and didnt say anything about that for the rest of the run. But this is the good exemple... now a bad one is, when i did dungeons through duty finder as a tank, i dont like to start running straight away getting all groups for a speed run, becuase i have seen tanks doing that before and wiping over and over, so i either ask before if a speed run is ok or i just do the first 2 groups of enemies as a normal pull to get hte feel of the party, see if the dps is ok and the healer can keep up *i usually do this when i get no response from the party after i say hello*, but this one time on stone vigil hard *yes... this one.. one that you cant even speed run properly* the party kept complaining that i didnt pull more and kept rushing ahead of me saying that i was a scared tank, this to the end even if after those 2 pulls i aggroed more groups of enemies at once. they didnt opent heir mouth to say "you can pull more, we can handle this" they were straight to the complaining *after not getting a single "hi" at the start*.

so yeah, do what you think is right, but understand that even the good can be seen as bad, and you will get to feel the consequences for it, being it nice or annoying.

Even if they are not asking for advice, it doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate it when it’s being given to them. There is a big difference between giving friendly advice and forcing a playstyle upon someone. It all depends on when and how you give it. What they do with that advice is totally up to them.

Not everyone is familiar with the class they play or how to handle mechanics. If you are experienced with that specific class or mechanic, is it so wrong to share that experience? Or should we just throw them to into the “pit/abyss” and have them climb out themselves?

That’s not particularly a good way to play as a member of a team, right?

Again, there is a big difference is sharing experience and forcing it on someone.

“If you see this AoE mark, you want to stack on top of each other to split the damage among the people in it.” might seem to be something that could be considered as “forcing something upon another”, but it also contains valuable information about what to expect from a certain mechanic on which you can act once you see it yourself.

It’s a hell of a lot better then saying “No, you’re doing it wrong! Pay attention!”.

I notice if some DPS is slow but wont bother unless its one of the 100000000000 drgs that dont know the use of Heavy thrust and in that case or some commons for other classes 8cant recall right now) I try to explain what could help up to 3 times some take offence what i cannot really understand but hey. If my advice still gets lost after that 3rd time i usually dont bother anymore. But people calling someone noob or anything serioulsy annoy me and if they do so even if the insulted person is really bad at his job i votekick the flamer not the player who isnt comfy with class.

I have recently decided to main as a tank. All though I have had no issues, I will give a prime example of somebody pointing me in the right direction. When I first started to tank I was activating roughly two defensive abilities maybe a second before the pull. A BLM who mains a tank (pay attention class) says my actual char name "Hey I notice you're activating defensive's roughly a second before your pulls, try this instead" they said. It never dawned on me that why even activate the ability if there is no inc. damage to begin with. I took the advice for what it was worth and now apply it in every DR and PF I go into. Point is, some of you hit the nail on the head in terms of how to handle situations. I read a lot, and before I ever stepped into a DR as a tank I ensured I practiced my rotations, I watched videos, and spent days reading tank, heal, and dps complaints about tanks so I would not make those mistakes. In the end however, I learned I still had to refine things, and that BLM's advice has gone a long way for me.

Being a tank there's no real stress free way in this game to gain experience for me.

Yes we can watch videos but from my experience actually being IN the fight is where the bulk of the learning happens because even if you know the gist of mechanics there's still the action of doing them with your own job and equipment.

I have to say I've learned a whole lot from other people telling me what to do and what I'm doing wrong HOWEVER 99% of the time the delivery of this information is very hostile.
While as a tank you do develop a thick skin for flaming but still does it really hurt to leave out all the profanities and insults in your barks? Thank you.

P.S. all of the above does NOT include coils and other fights that have as complex mechanics. Walking into T5 and expecting other people to tell you how each phase works is extremely selfish no matter how you look at it.

Since I don't play DPS, I never try to give any sort of advices to them ( maybe in Copperbell normal when a carbuncle is killing non stop the bomb at second boss, but that's it). When I play my PLD in low roulette and I'm with a fresh healer who tend to over heal like crazy, I just take the time to explain why he shouldn't. When I heal and I'm with a glad who doesn't flash and lose aggro easily and start running like a headless chicken, I give him/her some basic tips. I always call them by their name, not their class.
I think it's important for veterans to help new players. In a respectful way. I've already been in parties where said veterans were really rude with fresh tanks. I can't imagine how stressful it was for this person. Some tanks don't even know what "aggro" or "hate" means. I remember having to explain the whole hate system to new players in my FC.

He obviously wasn't paying attention to his own rotation if he's standing there watching someone elses or typing instead of killing.

Just give it up, it's DF, they don't give a shit if they are sucking
Some of these assholes goes on full troll mode when you tell them what to do.

I typed in fragments as I was in the middle of the combat and healing
And yea, the bard continued to kill off the statue in AK HM first boss
