Indeed. Fights like titan really weeded a lot of us out.

Regardless, currently most australians are scattered due to the fact that there is no set place where they should go. The majority of it seems to be Tonberry & Sargantanas. I'd like to see a server for us all to come together.

The last we heard talk about it was back in May 2014.

Can you imagine if the american or Japanese player base had to play on consistent 200+ping?

I hear my American mates complain when it gets close to 90 ping. Lol

At that point I think they're just trying to cover up their mistakes by blaming it on lag. I play CSGO just fine with 20 ping, and that's a game where ping delay has a significant effect on gameplay, more so than FFXIV. As for the thread subject, I'd love to have Australian servers, or at least servers located somewhere near Australia. Playing with 300-400 ping can be a huge pain, and no one's going to believe you if you claim you're lagging.

i play in odin (eu) world n i rarely and i mean rarely get any kind of lag spikes what so ever and im a proud aussie gamer :P only lag i experienced was titan HM on ps3 but since i upgraded to ps4 runs n perfprms a million times better

Why do they have to be in Australia, why not a more centralized position like Singapore so it can be a general SE Asia server? Australia is just one country in the region and they wouldn't even come close to having the numbers to justify their own data center.

Now I have no idea what the costs are for a server for a game this size, so perhaps what i'm suggesting is presumptuous, but in April, we had reports of well more than 2 million subscribers and an expectation over 3 million to come.

With subscriptions looking only on the rise and with an upcoming an expansion, perhaps its time to consider implementing an Australian server. After all, WoW currently has 12 true Oceanic servers and FFXIV is almost at the point where it is at 40% of wow's current subscribers. I realise that Australians only make up for a small chunk of the FFXIV subscription base, but I seem to see a lot of us on.

We do not have concrete numbers of subscribers for FF14:ARR. We know there is at least 2.5 million REGISTERED accounts by end of last year, NOT SUBSCRIBERS. We do know from Yoshi-P not so long ago that there is about 500k unique player login per day so you know we have at least 500k subscribers no matter what. Factoring in players who doesn't play every day but still subscribes monthly, I would estimate that we have anywhere around 750k to 1million actual subs. We do not have as much as 40% of WoW playerbase.

See the problem with going to a JP server is several things:
1. - The obvious language barrier.

This always makes me laugh. There are TONZ of English speaking players/FCs on JP servers.

Of course there are, but theres also a lot MORE non english speaking players.

Considering me play offpeak, it kind of sucks.

Australia and japan time only 2h difference summer time winter time 1h difference so more Japanese player
