JP servers are for people living in japan or living near japan. They are not exclusive to japanese only.

Tell that to the PF board. I made an alt on a JP world (it was tonberry a year and a half ago), and all that was there was "JP ONLY!!!!!111!!!!1!@@$!@!@!@!"
Was a bit disheartening. (I leveled that alt to 50 btw)

Also, DF labyrinth of the ancients was... interesting. Lets just say, when your entire party is JP, and you are the only english speaking one, good luck with finding someone to explain the details of that fight to you.

....Guess I had better get used to it... My server is moving to Europe, and I might have to move and leave my friends of 2 years, lest I have to suffer through even worse ping....

So I've recently made an alt on Tonberry, and while I'm enjoying it there (it's much more fun when you actually have time to avoid AoEs), I'm a very slow reader of Japanese, so the Duty Finder is very off putting to use. I still like the FC I'm with on Zalera too, so I have a question for any other Aussies playing on NA servers. What are the best ways to reduce lag if there are any? I've heard about things like WTFast and Pingzapper but I want to hear from others before giving them a shot myself.

I play on an NA server (Sarg), I've found that WTFast free version helps the best so far but the paid version helps even more than the free version. I've tried to make an alt on Tonberry between 12 am to 7am AEST but it's always been closed to new characters, so I might have some luck around when maintenance is on maybe? I've heard of Aussies leaving JP servers because of the lack of english speakers and you'd rarely find english in the PF so you'd have to look for english FC's/LS's... Though I really am put off going to a JP server since I don't want to guess if that person speaks english or not.

There you have it.
You made a choice to play in a server that has worse latency.
You can have a fully furnished house in Tonberry as well if that's what's stopping you from moving, but you won't have better latency if you don't move.

Try making an alt in Tonberry to check things out first if you're worried there isn't enough english speaking community there.
Even if SE makes an official OCE server I have doubts I'll move there either, the DF here kicks ass xD

And what of those who can't get on tonberry because it's closed seemingly almost 24/7
