Another Temporary Ban

You would think there would be no middle ground between taking part in illegal activities or RMT trading, either you did it or you didn't, you cant accidentally buy from an RMT trader or accidentally take part in an illegal activity such as botting. Yet here we see again that SE has issued a temporary ban for one of the above. It's time for SE to harden up. There can be no middle ground !

Botting and RMT Trading is big buks, if 1% of the 3,000,000 plus subscribers bought from RMT once a week that would equate to over $120,000 a week, and that's just from FFXIV. This money almost certainly finances organised crime or even worse, terrorism. Stop worrying about a few subscribers and take the right course of action.

Really? Just... really? Terorrism?
They cannot tempban everyone who seems to be guilty, even if there is a chance that 1 of 1000 banned would be innocent, that 1 person deserves a chance to play again.

I wish more in the community looked at RMT as cheating but most are silently ok with it and some defend it outright. If temp bans are the solution then can we have a small tag in their search info showing they have been banned for RMT activity? weather it be buying or selling. This way I know what players to avoid because they are cheaters.

Hmm, I would feel bad for the innocent, but SE has already proven to be hardasses when it comes to credit card charge backs (or debit card refusals due to low funds, whatever it's called) ... why do they go so easy on RMT? :/

The no grey area is an interesting idea. As a crafter, I was hired to do some crafting. I charged 500K/armour piece. the person I bought from then later said they needed to buy more gil in order to pay me for more pieces. I Blacklisted the person, so that I can afford to forget the persons name, but I was definitely concerned. That player paid RL money, <for gil or services> and then I provided the service (For the gil)

I felt like it was a gre area for me, but seeing as how I was unaware originally I hope SE won't include me in any future temp bans. I am only aware of being handed RMT-purchased gil the one time. Even then, the person COULD have been trolling me to get me to do stuff for free.

Usually the temporary ban is on stolen accounts so the actual owner of the account has an opportunity to regain access. Wouldnt you be quite upset if someone stole your account information and got your account perma banned with no hope of recovery? When they say permanent, they mean it.

so with the money that the guy got from RMT he bought some stuff out of the market board from a regular crafter, that means the regular crafter received illicite money, therefore he is contributing to this *traffic*..should he be baned as well? according to you he should since there cannot be grey zones, right? if you say no, you already defeat the whole purpose of your post.

Grey zone exists and always will exist, there cannot be right or wrong when it comes to this...there are innocent that are just victims and those victims need to be as well taken into account. Besides you dont know the whole story, or do you ? if you dont might want first to take all info and then come out with *accusation*...even though I am sure is not what you wanted to do.

RMT deserves to be banned but innocents need to be protected and you simply dont see or arent able that in any judgement there are factors to be taken into account, careful with those blunt statements when accusing someone comes into question, you might well be caught in such turmoil and you may be innocent..
