    You're looking at typically 6 GL3 breaks in T9:
    1. Double Meteor Stream in p1 [PB]
    2. Golem drop at start of p2
    3. Second golem drop in p2
    4. Megaflare at start of p3 [PB]
    5. Meteor Stream in p4
    6. Second Meteor Stream in p4 [PB]

I've tagged [PB] on the drops you can rectify with Perfect Balance assuming you don't PB at the start. T9 is the most inhospitable encounter for MNK to date, but at least all the drops are predictable instead of RNG bullshit (see: turn 7).

Ironically, when it comes to Leviathan EX, MNK DPS goes up as PT DPS goes up. Skipping phases forces Levi to stay out longer and introduces more adds to maintain the combo. It's entirely possible to lose GL only once the whole encounter.

(with the not enough damage being due to my slow start up and not due to damage itself)

as with leviviatian that is true it relies on the party which means if i am joining a friend to help i will lose my GL3 every stack while if i farm it with a good group i will have it thoughout the fight that instability makes it more a nuisance then a good thing,

also to those who say monk is the HIGHEST dps, from what i have herd a ninja can still hit higher, and black mages can hit higher, so thats 2 classes (one of which is getting reworked to deal more damage and be more varied) that can out dps monks.

Edit: Just read the rest, what the hell? Ninja and BLM aren't even close to MNK. Only competitor MNK's have are DRG right now. If you think otherwise, I have bad news.

Edit: Just read the rest, ... (snipped)

as a PS4 player i have no access to parsers nor to any way of measuring DPS, i have been told the damage i do is extremely good from people willing to parse me, but the groups that tell me what i have stated are groups i find on Party finder, i have been kicked for 'slow start ups' as i have said and loosing GL3 being called a bad monk for losing my stacks, as for the other thing at the bottom though your edit, i have no way to measure this so i have to rely on the word of other people when it comes to dps :\ a parser allowed by SE would fix a lot of misconseptions or prove what classes are the highest DPS, until then people will use any excuse to blame a class for not being a assumed perfect class, :c

I'm sounding like a d*ck, but really, it's super rare I'm beaten on a parse as MNK in any fight.

see i don't find it d*ckish to say that, but as said without the ability to see that in-fornt of me, i have to go with others people's words say you were in a party and had no means to know how well or bad your doing but everyone else dose, they could say your doing the worst damage and you'd have no well to tell nor improve :c, but then again it seems now my argument has gone from saying in a few instances loosing stacks is bad into more of a parsing issue, which starts going off topic the OP intended.

BLM, NIN and even BRD at the very start of a fight can push ahead of MNK pretty easy (equal geared) but give us a few rotations and we drive ahead very nicely.

A good BRD has some pretty nice initial burst at the start that very quickly drops off in a very short time, same with NIN, there inital burst is good, but they can't maintain it, whereas with MNK we start slower but ramp up and stay there (until disconnects that force us to lose stacks :S )

Then the trick is get back. Which, imo, makes MNK the most fun job.

Hell, even on PLD, first rotation I can peak (for a very short time XD) higher than MNK. In sword oath+ 130 DPS accs.

People that kick you for dropping stacks at double meteor stream apparently don't know much about monks. She's in the air for about 12 seconds and you have nothing to hit. How exactly are you supposed to keep your stacks? I've never played MNK in Leviathan so I'm not entirely sure on the timing (i.e. whether it's actually physically impossible to keep stacks), but I can see it being really hard to keep GL3 up with all the jumping around he does.

The only time a good BLM will have more dps than a good MNK is an aoe situation. Single target, MNK/DRG destroy BLM. Ninja seems to be more bursty than MNK. I see a lot of people mistaking burst damage for dps lately.

There's two ways to apply PB in phase 1:
    a) Use it at the start like a conventional encounter
    b) Save it for double streams

For b, you can maintain GL3 by ending your combo on Demolish prior to the jump. My frame of reference? The woogly-woogly sound the Meteor Stream markers make. Use Demolish just as the second woogly starts. The damage and DoT won't apply due to beta game, but it will refresh GL. When she comes back down you can fire PB and use Snap Punch to lock GL3, reapply DK/Twin and stick a free Bootshine up her can for good measure.

Most recently, I've found use for this trick in t10 when marked for charge.

I won't say this rakes in significantly more DPS than using PB at the start for t9, but it's a good trick to have up your sleeve. You can wring out an extra 1.5s of GL uptime by ending combos on Demolish due to how long the animation lasts (and GL doesn't clock in until the animation is over) then use PB to secure it.
