Do new players miss out on certain things that vets got to experience?

Yes new players will miss out on some things. As stuff gets old very few players run it anymore. Trying to find a T2 -T5 group on my sever is a pain (took 3 hours). Good news for newer players is NONE of the OLD coil will be needed to enter the new Endgame Raid.

And that is the feeling we got the night the servers went down, and for the first time the entire player base saw the King of Dragons; Bahamut burst from the false Red Moon... then saw him begin to destroy Eorzea as we were cast away and left helpless.

Sure you can watch the CS now... but its not the same

I started playing ff14 a month ago and im at level 36. So far im having a blast playing it. There was maybe 3 or 4 patches that introduced new dungeons and storylines to see. As a new player will i be able to experience all these dungeons and storylines? With the new patch coming soon they are adding more dungeons and storylines as well. What im basically trying to get at will I experience or will I just receive the current ones. Will they appear on the game as quest or will i have to do some googling to find them?

The only story line you might have missed was the one that occurred in the 1.0 version (Even I missed it since the game royally sucked back then and I could not be bothered with it), but you can see those fights and cutscenes on YouTube. The rest of the stuff is something you can experience in this version, unless, of course, you end up with a bunch of people trying to rush you through the dungeons.

Man, those were the days. AK runs were the stop-gate. If DPS couldn't hack it then it was time to continue to farm for gears.... Sadly those checks don't exist anymore...

They just moved those checks to stuff like Captain Madison in Sastasha or 100K needles in Qarn. So many wipes from people in the first week. Of course now, people are mostly overgeared so it is not an issue. The "stop-gate" always exist, just moved to latest content, they don't need to be in old content making trouble for newer players trying to catch up.

The more it change, the more it stays the same. There is nothing that newer players are essentially missing in FFXIV. And it is no big loss that atma drop rates have improved, because it is now there are more steps to do to get to the iLevel 125 weapon.

In "good old days" finding random groups for coil1 was way more hard than now.

Its in my eyes a big mistake of the people to think, they should begin forming a static when they reach the actual content.

I see many new players running around on Odin and in my opinion, these people should begin to form a static group before they begin to raid at all, instead of pugging through older coils and think people in actual coil are just waiting for them.

Form a new static with all the new players out there and I'm shure, the result will be ways better than trying to pug through t1-9 and finding a group after that. Thats the way it should be done and we have done it as first coil was actual content.

in fact the only coil people NEVER, EVER do is t3. And that's because it's worthless.
T4+5 and all of SCOB are still done regularly.

T3 is the best Race To The Finish zone in the game.
Sometimes I like going with a full party of 8 PLD and seeing who can get there first/survive it.

While there may not be ingame rewards, it's still super fun.

Sorry , missing the point,. I was helping new members to my FC. We couldnt finad ANYONE to run T1 to T4, with using PF or DF. We even offered to PAY people to help out. Also, not everyone has time to form statics. Its not lazy, its REAL life. Point being is the first Coil is almost died now. Good thing is NONE of the old coils will matter anymore.
