You should probably update your first post with what you've done, and what's happened since then (like the shooting threat, as well as finally getting him kicked from the FB page and LS). As the thread gets longer, people are less and less likely to read the older posts or just skip pages entirely and just focus on replying to the original post. I have read the whole thing, and it sounds like you're getting the situation under control. It'll just take some time for the relevant authorities to deal this guy, so you may have to endure his crap for a bit until the investigation gets going (whether by police, SE, and/or Sony).
when dealing with a stalker, real or virtual, you must not give them the time or the day, second record all information about what they say,.I know it feels like a lot but if it takes a whole year, do it. second. save any and all information about this person. for your personal use.
One must always protect their self. At anytime you have a issues that can be solved by the GM's then post all your information on the forum, created as large and as many digital footprints possible. If it escalated to the point that you need to call the police. they can see you make a honest effort. once you establish all them. there is safety in numbers, since you have a couple of friends, get the whole server to black list him if you have to, to create change.
PS For everybody information, when a GM's says they can't help post a picture of what the GM sent to you about how and why they can't help you.

It is and always will be a good idea to protect yourself, but that doesn't mean others should take advantage of you if you don't. It is everyone's right to be protected against illegal activity, no matter what they have done. You have nothing to be at fault for, and you are not in the wrong for trusting in people to be upstanding. Even if you didn't give out information, there are ways for people to get your information, ways that aren't always legal either. No matter what anyone else says you should do, the fact is, none of them are truly invisible either. I've witnessed my investigators pinpoint the ip address of computers that accessed a university computer wireless system only once. I've seen and heard a neighboring police station pinpoint the location of a cellphone that dialed their system the second it dialed. The movies have it completely wrong. It isn't some long drawn out process. It doesn't take three minutes to trace a cellphone. It takes less than a second. If anyone thinks they aren't "in the system" anywhere, they're wrong. If you have an ID, a car, a gun, a bank account, work, even have a social security card, your information IS out there, but it IS being protected. That doesn't mean there aren't ever leaks, or that there are never any information hacks and attacks. The fact is, there ARE people that will try to get your information, but they don't have to befriend you on a videogame to necessarily do it. That is where we (police departments) come in. To set things right. To restore balance to those attacked. So yeah, try not to give out your information freely, but those attacking this poor girl for trusting someone just a little bit, need to realize that they are not so invisible themselves and should really stop being snobby to this girl.
ive been in the same situation of harassment before as well, not to the point where gun threats were being made but other sexual IRL threats were being made, always happened after pplz realized I was a girl. I eventually moved to an entirely new game, (at the time i was on F2P games). Eventually after such harassment had happened more then once I learned that its best not to allow people I meet ingame to be associated with me outside of game on any social media websites or messengers. I only hand out that info to people that I have been close friends with for more then a few years. Sadly this has led me to completely quit using any sort of voice program (vent, mumble etc.) because normally thats when it would start is once I would start using that to chat with ingame peeps instead of strictly inside game.

Yes...blame the person being picked on.
While I agree that blending in-game internet strangers you play a MMO with your personal FB account isn't exactly a choice I'd personally make, she's not the one harassing anyone. And many, many people who play this game, meet in real life, on purpose to have dinner, go to conventions etc. and have lasting friendships/relationships...heck some even get MARRIED...to someone they met in an MMO. So it's not maybe a decision I'd make...but I hear way more about 'we met playing FFXI' than 'yo, I have a stalker from FFXI'
We live in a digital age. It's part of life. And actually, in some respects, we're safer/more protected because of it. Even in this case...most of what this player is doing to harass her? There's written documentation where she could take it to a cop/judge etc and SHOW them. He said this on FB/in game. Time/date/place everything stamped there for all to see. Heck, there's even witnesses. Everything this jerk does to screw with her is basically documented and can be presented as evidence if needed (because printed words don't disappear people). 20+ years ago, proving someone was harassing you was actually far harder.
Well, that's just sad. Good luck to you getting him banned swiftly.
Maybe a forum moderator will bump this issue to the lead GM, if it hasn't already happened.
Great community btw
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-game-stalkers just gonna point out this has happened before

It's painting a picture of "As long as you skirt the line within the TOS you can be as awful as you want to a person."
GMs seem a bit too letter of the law rather than spirit of the law.
I remember this happening on FFXI to a friend in the linkshell but the GM actually showed up warned him next time it happens he will be temp banned and warped him to GM jail for a few hours.
Here I don't know if GM's walk among the people.
I remember once I fell into a glitch in FFXI in a pond near windurst I could not get out, nobody was on in Linkshell and I had no warp on me so I was boned, So I shouted I said anyone help me get out of this hole please and someone shouted sorry I don't have high enough black mage, all of a sudden a GM appeared glowing and zoned me outside and said he would report the glitch to the dev team.
Now FFXIV GM's should start walking among players so that if something happens and they Get a GM called on them they appear or put the said harassing person in a GM jail.
I seen video's on youtube about GM jail for FFXIV but never see them appear.
